The Diocese of York is a diverse family of nearly 600 churches and 442 parishes, serving communities across North and East Yorkshire. Rooted in prayer and mission, we seek to support parishes to promote generosity in order to enable the ministry of every part of the diocese, including both deprived and prosperous communities.

We are seeking a Generous Giving Adviser to advocate for Christian giving in various ways across the diocesan family. The role involves working with churches, helping them understand their own financial positions and giving profiles, and helping them develop approaches to embed generous giving.

About the Role

Working within the Generous Giving Team, and closely with colleagues across the Operational Support Team, you will help parishes with the practical aspects of generous giving, helping them to increase their income. You will lead the development of the MINT section of the National Giving Strategy (Mechanisms, Impact, Need, Trust) to improve giving practice in churches across the Diocese, and introduce mechanisms for giving which respond to the needs of current as well as new givers.

About You

You will bring experience of working with numerical and financial information, and be confident to support the mechanisms of giving such as Gift Aid and Contactless Devices. You will have excellent communication and people skills, and be able to engage people on these issues and influence action.

The successful candidate will be a committed Christian with a good understanding of the concepts of generosity, discipleship, and sacrifice. The role requires travel across the Diocese and occasional evening or weekend working.
