We’re looking for a reliable and enthusiastic General Assistant to join our friendly Stewarding team at St Antony’s College.
This is a permanent, full-time role working 35 hours per week, over any 5 days out of 7. The role includes evening and weekend work, and you may occasionally need to work over 6 days out of 7.
The rate of pay is £13.45 per hour.
About the role
As a General Assistant, you will work as part of our busy front-of-house team, helping us provide a welcoming and professional food and drink service for students, Fellows, staff and guests.
The role is varied and your duties will change depending on the needs of the College. You will work under the guidance of the Stewarding Assistants and support colleagues across all areas of the department.
Your work will include:
- Serving food and drinks at lunches, formal dinners and other College events
- Operating the Dining Hall tills when required
- Setting up and clearing dining rooms and meeting rooms
- Clearing tables, cleaning food and drink service areas, and keeping the Dining Hall tidy
- Helping with stock deliveries and storing equipment
What we’re looking for
- A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service in a front-of-house food and drink environment
- A positive and enthusiastic approach to work
- Strong team-working skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with a wide range of people
- Flexibility to work different shifts, including evenings and weekends
Previous experience in food and drink service, hospitality or a similar customer-facing role would be an advantage, but is not essential.
