- Caring, Aspiring, Professional, SustainableJOB VACANCY:Furniture Warehouse Operative / Driver£13.53 per hour over 35 hours per week including Saturdays on a rota basis ( A certain degree of flexibility commensurate with the requirements of the post is necessary )MORE THAN A DRIVER – COULD YOU BE PART OF OUR DRIVING FORCE?We are looking for a new member of our Furniture Warehouse team to help collect donations, organise deliveries, support customers and make a daily difference for St Mary's Hospice.This is a hands-on, energetic and physically demanding role. You'll need to be able to safely lift, carry and move furniture and other donated items as part of your daily work.No two days are the same. One moment you could be collecting a donated sofa, the next serving a customer on the till, helping merchandise the showroom or preparing stock for sale. Our warehouse is busy, varied and full of opportunity to make an impact.A full driving licence is essential and you'll need to be a courteous, confident and responsible driver. You will be representing St Mary's Hospice across our local community and will play an important role in creating a positive experience for our donors and customers.Excellent customer service skills are vital. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, communicates well and is happy to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in wherever needed. Some days may include bereavement house clearances, so empathy and sensitivity are just as important as practicality.As part of the role you'll also work alongside volunteers, support warehouse operations, operate the till system, assist with Gift Aid and help maintain an attractive and welcoming showroom environment.You'll need to be organised and reliable, ensuring vehicle checks, health and safety requirements and paperwork are completed accurately and on time.If you're looking for a role that's far more than driving and want to be part of a team that helps support local hospice care, we'd love to hear from you.#wecantdoitwithoutyouWe are proud of our Hospice values – Care, Aspiration, Collaboration and Sustainability – and we're looking for someone who shares them and will represent St Mary's Hospice with pride every dayClosing date 29 June 2026Succesful applicants will be invited for a taster session followed by an interview.

- What we do
St. Marys Hospice is a charity, providing specialist palliative, supportive and care at the end of life for people living with advancing illness, and their families. We have two main bases: the hospice building in Ulverston and the St Marys Living Well Centre in Barrow in Furness. We also provide care in the home setting and provide therapy groups within the local community.
Hospice services include a 6-8 bedded In-Patient Unit, Hospice at Home Service, Family & Bereavement Support Service and Living Well Therapies.
We are also a regional educational hub for palliative and end of life care education and part of the NW Coast Learning Collaborative. We deliver a range of education to internal staff and to the wider health and social care workforce.
