Safeguarding Responsibilities:

Due to the nature of the role and the workplace, the post holder must be over 18 years of age.
Job Purpose:
Drive the charity furniture van to assist with the furniture collection and deliveries of stock and other items throughout the shops and the charity. To ensure appropriate collections of furniture is booked in, logistically to maximise sales and reduce costs. Help move round stock, following the instruction of the Head of Retail. Assist in shop duties when required. Guide volunteers that help on van collections.
Key Job Role Responsibilities and Main Tasks:
- Organise Furniture collections to be cost effective and efficient for the charity.

Collect Furniture donations from donors, ensuring the van is always loaded correctly.

Make sure all collections and deliveries are done safely and in accordance with St George’s Crypt procedures.

Ensure the highest standards of customer service are always met.

Deal sympathetically with and provide information to members of the public, where necessary directing those in need to further sources of help.

Actively promote Gift Aid to all our donors.

Ensure that all staff & volunteers project a good image of St George’s Crypt.

Train and support the volunteer team in the shops.

Report any accidents and near misses immediately

Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and tidy, ensure that the vehicle is always loaded correctly
-
Ensure the loading area is kept clean and tidy.

Assisting with shop Health and Safety by helping the shop move furniture to the shop floor and NEVER blocking fire exits.
-
Transfer stock between the shops and our other properties, as arranged by the Head of Retail or Department head ensuring that the van is always loaded safely.

PAT Test items for resale.

Assist with on-the-job training for all volunteers.

Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.

Comply with All Health and Safety issues on the van, in the shops or in other St George’s Crypt properties in accordance with St George’s Crypt policies and procedures.

Ensure all administrative tasks related to van & shop operations are completed correctly and on time.

Ensure all shop staff are informed of how many donated items are to be added to EPOS system.

Ensure all sales are correctly recorded through the EPOS system and all money is kept secure.
-
Complete paperwork including cashing up, banking, collection & delivery bookings, van activity, stock control and all gift aid donor information as required.

Required to cover any logistics’ member of staff if on annual leave or off due to sickness

Covering any logistic requirements of St George’s Crypt, projects, or partners

To work across our other shops from time to time to assist with holiday cover.

Assist with all aspects of shop and stock room operations, movement of stock to the shop floor and working to always maximise sales.
