Job Introduction
Role Title: Fundraising and Marketing Coordinator
Reports to: Fundraising Lead
Location: Hybrid – Home working, Clacton office and in the community across Essex
Hours: 22.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £28560 FTE per annum £17136 pro rata per annum + benefits
The Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised person to join our Fundraising team to help build and maintain a steady pipeline of grants, donations and fundraising activities. You will also support PR and marketing activities, including representing the organisation at community events, contributing to campaigns, sourcing and creating social media content and sending charity updates to our supporters.
We are especially looking for someone positive, creative, driven and organised to help sustain the growth of the charity. You will be expected to support with grant applications and newsletter content, so strong written communication and grammar are essential. Knowledge of healthy ageing in older adults, and an understanding of the need for our services, would be beneficial.
Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective funders, donors and partners, while working with the Fundraising Lead to research, identify and maintain a pipeline of potential funders.
- Manage an existing database of individual donors. Develop ideas to expand one-off and regular donations and keep donors informed with regular updates.
- Prepare strong cases for support and write/submit compelling grant applications and funding bids. Plan ahead to ensure applications are completed and submitted ahead of deadlines, while remaining flexible to respond to new funding opportunities.
- Work alongside the Fundraising Lead on new initiatives and campaigns to diversify income streams, e.g. digital fundraising, community fundraising and corporate partnerships.
- Source effective content for social media, the website, bespoke communications and newsletters.
- Work alongside the Fundraising Lead to deliver a quarterly newsletter update for supporters.
- Work with the Social Media Co-ordinator to create content and showcase partnership activity on social media channels and the website.
- Support the delivery of Direct Mail and Online appeals that will provide a stable and growing income stream.
- Help raise awareness of legacy giving and support the stewardship of legacy enquirers and pledgers.
- Build excellent working relationships with colleagues across the organisation, using processes that support efficiencies and collaborative working.
- Work with the Fundraising Lead to ensure that the conditions and criteria of grants are tracked against outcomes, and that funders are provided with regular updates that meet or exceed their requirements, maintaining oversight through an online database.
- Have the ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the role.
- Represent Age Well East at networking and fundraising events, both virtually and in person.
- Use AI tools appropriately for efficiency where helpful, while ensuring that all applications and communications remain human-led.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Experience in fundraising, Trust and Foundations grant writing, or a similar role.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage projects effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong grammar.
- The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with supporters and partners.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience in digital marketing or social media content creation.
- Strong IT skills, including the use of Canva.
- A proactive, solution-focused and positive can-do attitude.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience developing fundraising strategies that will excite and motivate donors.
- Be passionate about the organisation’s mission, values and strategic aims.
- Proactive in identifying new opportunities and willingness to share ideas with the Fundraising Lead.
