Purpose of Role
To drive forward community fundraising so that
Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity can fulfil its
Commitment that No Child Should Face Hospital Alone.

This role is about people: inspiring them, supporting them, and

empowering them to fundraise for ECHC. You’ll build meaningful

relationships across our communities, motivate supporters

to take action, and deliver excellent stewardship that keeps them with us

for the long term.

Areas of Responsibility

Income Generation and Supporter Engagement

• Deliver against income targets set out in the Fundraising Strategy,

driving growth in community fundraising.

• Build a strong pipeline of supporters across local businesses,

community groups, schools, families, hospital staff and individuals.

• Proactively generate, manage and grow supporter-led fundraising

(DIY events, community events, bucket collections, challenges, school
fundraising, Rotary/SWRI/Scouts/Brownies etc.).

• Use compelling storytelling - including hospital tours - to inspire

people to get involved and understand their impact.

• Confidently ‘make the ask’ to convert interest into support and

maximise every opportunity.

• Cross-sell and up-sell products and engagement opportunities to

deepen supporter involvement.

Relationship Building and Stewardship

• Be a highly visible presence within the hospital

community, building strong, positive relationships

with families, NHS colleagues, staff and volunteers.

• Provide outstanding stewardship that ensures

supporters feel valued and informed at every stage.

• Work collaboratively across the Fundraising Team,

including Corporate and Partnerships and Supporter
Care, to ensure seamless supporter journeys.

Volunteer Engagement

• In partnership with the Volunteer Manager, recruit and motivate a

volunteer team to support community fundraising activity.

• Deliver talks, presentations and information sessions, using

volunteers appropriately to help amplify impact.

Planning, Reporting and Compliance

• Contribute to budgeting and develop clear annual plans for your

fundraising activity

• Track, analyse and report on income, delivering timely updates and

mitigation plans where necessary.

• Maintain accurate supporter records with the CRM system and

ensure all work complies with data protection, fundraising regulation
and best practice.

• Evaluate risk and prioritise activities with the best return on

investment.

Additional Responsibilities

• Represent ECHC as an ambassador, protecting and enhancing our

reputation.

• Keep abreast of sector developments and competitor activity.

• Flexibly support wider organisational activity as required.
