We are the leading sport for social good charity
in Devon and Cornwall, operating over 2,700
square miles. We utilise the prestige of football
and the reach of the club to inspire, engage,
and help people of all ages, genders, races, and

Argyle Community Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Funded Programmes Officer to lead,
develop and deliver a diverse range of high-quality funded programmes across Plymouth and South Devon.
Working in partnership with key national organisations such as the Premier League Foundation, Premier
League Charitable Fund and the EFL Trust, this role plays a vital part in using the power of sport and
education to inspire, engage and create positive outcomes for children and young people.
The successful candidate will oversee delivery across a range of programmes, including school-
based initiatives such as Premier League Primary Stars and Joy of Moving, alongside wider community
programmes.

About You
You will be passionate about education, sport and community impact, with a strong understanding of

JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Objectives of the Role

•  Lead, develop and deliver high-quality funded programmes across Plymouth and South Devon,
ensuring all provision meets funder requirements, Trust objectives and safeguarding standards.
•  Lead, support and provide best-practice guidance to staff delivering funded programmes, driving

continuous improvement and consistency across delivery.

•  Design and deliver engaging, inclusive school and community-based programmes aligned to the

National Curriculum, including PE, classroom interventions, PSHE and STEM-based activity.

•  Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, multi-academy trusts and local and national

partners to ensure programmes are bespoke, impactful and responsive to need.

•  Monitor, evaluate and report on programme impact, ensuring key performance indicators are met

and evidence is effectively captured for funders and stakeholders.

•  Contribute to wider participation activity, including development centres, holiday provision,

roadshows and HAF programmes to enhance the Trust’s local offer.

Supervise and Deliver

•  Ensure delivery plans for our Funded programmes are aligned with Key Performance Indicators set from
the funding partner and targets are developed and recruited to meet these throughout the academic
year

•  Suitably plan staffing quality and ratios with the Plymouth Schools Lead in relation to programme needs

and objectives.

•  Ensure personal and team delivery is of a high standard across provisions in Plymouth & South Devon

programmes across the funded programmes by completing quality assurance checks and providing
ongoing feedback to staff to support their development.

Expertise and Best Practice

•  Review and develop the funded programmes development plans for ACT’s delivery plan and provide

the expertise to ensure programmes are designed to meet school’s and pupils needs
•  Share best practices with funders and current internal staff working on the programme.

Customer Focus

•  Collect evidence to showcase the feedback of the programmes based in and ensure these are meeting

the aims and objectives being set out by partners needs and requirements.

•  Provide pre and post-meetings with the partners to ensure programmes are planned around their

requirements as a school and to allow programmes to be developed to continue to meet their needs.

Safety and Compliance

•  Complete Quality Assurance checks implemented across programmes to ensure

programmes are safe and programmes are high quality.

•  Monitor impact outcomes from programmes through regular data reporting through

communication with partners alongside pre & post-questionnaires, case studies and media
recordings with the delivery & impact teams.

•  Provide Risk assessments for programmes and venues in use across Plymouth & South Devon

School based sessions.

•  Prioritise Health and Safety and Safeguarding when planning and delivering to ensure that the

Trust protects the welfare and safety of all staff, volunteers and participants.

•  Promote compliance ensuring that the Trust enforces all policies and procedures, challenging

national networks and enhancing the reputation of the Trust.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience

FA Level 1

FA level 2/UEFA C

AfPE level 3/HLTA level 3 qualification

A minimum of 2 years’ experience operating with Sports Development/Sports Coaching

Experience of working in Community Club Organisations

Hold an up to date FA First Aid & FA Safeguarding qualficiation

Experience of monitoring and evaluating projects working effectively towards KPIs and outcomes

Degree in Sports Development, youth work or another relevant field

Experience in liaising with partnered organisations

Knowledge And Understanding

Knowledge and understanding of budgeting and tracking KPI outcomes

Understanding of measuring and reporting upon impact and project outcomes

A good  (current) knowledge of School PE and Sport National curriculum for KS1 & KS2

In-depth understanding of Sports Development and coaching and can advise upon a range of delivery
outcomes e.g., early years, disability, community engagement

In depth understanding of Sports Development and coaching and can advise upon a range of delivery
