Full time (42.5hrs) Kennels & Cattery Assistant

To include some evenings, weekends and night cover. (Accommodation available on site for designated shifts)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard working animal lover to join our small team of Kennel & Cattery staff

Responsibilities will include:

  • Cleaning of cattery pens and dog kennels
  • Preparing & administering feeds for all animals, in line with animals’ specific dietary requirements.
  • Washing out feed/water bowls and cat trays/laundry duties.
  • Safe disposal of uneaten food and animal fouling throughout the day.
  • Appropriate storage and handling of incoming animal foodstuffs and personal belongings.
  • Administering medication to animals in their assigned care, as instructed.
  • Daily recording of behaviour, working alongside the behaviour team, to maintain and progress programmes.
  • Exercise dogs and provide enrichment for the cats and dogs.
  • Assist with training of the rescue dogs.
  • Assist with aspects of adoptions of rescue dogs and cats.
  • Complete daily health recording of all animals in your care.
  • Assist with Boarding clients and their animals
  • Assist any new and existing volunteers with daily tasks.
  • Helping to close the centre and all duties associated with locking up.
  • Ensuring that all animals (rescue and boarding) have the best time during their stay whilst maintaining high levels of care and welfare.

To be successful, you will:

  • Have experience in a similar setting or hold a relevant qualification.
  • Love animals!
  • Have a passion for animal welfare and the work of the charity.
  • Be an excellent team player.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism in a busy environment.
  • Be prepared to work alongside members of the team and learn appropriate skills.
  • Be discreet and professional when dealing with confidential/emotive information.
  • Work in line with Teckels aims, values and policies.

Salary: Minimum wage.

Have a full, clean driving licence.

Teckels is open 7 days a week and shifts are planned on a rota basis.

Applicants will also be required to cover night shifts and will be expected to stay on site; accommodation is provided. (on average, one night per week)
