TERMS & CONDITIONS

Salary: £12.71 per hour [Grade 1]
Contract: Permanent
Working Hours: Annualised hours, averaging 20 hours per week over a 7‑day period. Evening and weekend work required
Holiday: 32 days (inc. statutory holidays) per annum pro rata

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational
  • To welcome and assist the audience at Exeter Northcott events.
  • To maximise sales in the bar, cafe and confectionery kiosk.
  • To provide information to audience members on the location of toilets and refreshment facilities, show running times and the use of special effects in the performances.
  • To sell programmes, beverages, ices, sweets and merchandise.
  • To inform the Duty Manager or Bar Supervisor immediately of any emergency i.e., fire, sudden illness or injury or disturbance.
  • To be aware of the procedures for the safe evacuation of the audience; to assist the audience in any emergencies that may arise under the direction of the Duty Manager.
  • To serve meals, clear tables in the restaurant and bar areas and wash dishes and glasses.
  • To spot-check that the toilets are kept in a satisfactory state when the audience are on the premises.
  • To ensure the auditorium’s cleanliness after each performance and to assist with the pickup of litter throughout the building.
General
  • To be flexible and to undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by Management.
  • To take an active part in co-operating with and supporting other staff and departments in the achievement of the company’s aims.
  • To adhere to all Exeter Northcott policies (including Equal Opportunities and Child Protection).
  • To be aware of, and comply with, rules and legislation pertaining to Health & Safety at Work.
  • To be an advocate of the company.
  • To attend company events and be aware of the breadth of the company’s work.

Essential
  • Good articulacy, literacy and numeracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Available to work evenings, weekends & throughout holiday periods including Christmas & Easter
  • Experience of cashing up / dealing with the reconciliation of monies
  • Friendly and outgoing

  • An interest in the arts and/or experience of working in a theatre.
