Klassiki is looking for a freelance Short-Form Video Editor

They are seeking someone with a cinematic eye and a feel for digital storytelling, who can turn film clips, interviews, and original editorial into engaging videos that introduce new audiences to the cinema of Eastern Europe and the Near East. The role focuses primarily on Klassiki Notes – their video essay series exploring the films, filmmakers, and traditions in our library.

About Klassiki:

Launched in February 2021, Klassiki is a curated streaming service, offering the best of cinema from Eastern Europe, Ukraine, the Caucasus and Central Asia. Currently available in the UK and USA, their film library hosts a rich and diverse collection of silent masterpieces, classic comedies and dramas from the 1960s and 1970s, avant-garde & hidden gems from auteurs, and critically acclaimed new releases from the region. Their current and potential audience includes cinephiles (experience seekers) keen to immerse themselves in the rich, poetic traditions of Central and Eastern European cinema, as well as members of the diaspora who want to stay connected to the art and culture of their home countries.

Klassiki are a small team based in the UK, comprised of individuals who are passionate about spotlighting new and emerging voices as well as showcasing hidden and underappreciated gems from the region that deserve to be watched, shared and celebrated with a wider audience.

Role details:

  • Freelance contract from £250 per day
  • Remote and flexible working with occasional travel to London

Person specification:

  • Has experience editing video content for YouTube and/or short-form social platforms, ideally within the film, arts, or streaming sectors, with a showreel that demonstrates a strong cinematic eye and a feel for pacing, framing and rhythm.
  • Understands who our current and potential audiences are, and can use the assets from the unique films that we stream – clips, stills, interviews and archival material – to create video content that resonates with audiences.
  • Is interested in researching the films and filmmakers in our library, and finding original, cinematic and engaging ways to communicate their stories to viewers across YouTube and short-form social.
  • Can confidently handle foreign language source material, varied archival footage, and assets at different resolutions, bringing them into a single coherent edit with clean subtitles, sound and grade.
  • Has a strong feel for platform craft – pacing, hooks, captions, and aspect ratios – and knows what makes a video work on YouTube, Reels, TikTok and Shorts for a film and arts audience.
  • Has strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, with confidence in basic colour grading and sound mixing (Premiere or Adobe Audition). Familiarity with Photoshop, CapCut, and subtitle workflows is essential.
