What’s the Role?

Forum is your space to shape the student experience. It’s where students come together to discuss the issues that matter, vote for the Union Priorities, hear Officer updates and hold their representatives accountable. Forum is open to everyone – whether you care about buses, housing, mental health support, climate justice, or something totally new. It’s where your voice turns into action.

As Facilitators of Student Forum, you’ll lead the meeting, facilitating inclusive and engaging discussions and supporting student members to make meaningful change. This includes working with SU Sabbatical Officers to plan the agenda at Executive Committee meetings, promoting Forum through popups and social media content, and supporting with technology to ensure an effective hybrid meeting for online attendees.

This is a team role – you’ll work closely with your fellow Facilitators, the SU Sabbatical Officers, and students to create a Forum that our members want to be part of. One of you might be more facilitation-focused, while others take the lead on slides or tech – but you’ll all bring your strengths and support each other in the role.

What You’ll Do (Together)

• Plan the agenda with SU sabbs and students

• Facilitate Forum meetings – guide discussion, and keep it respectful, fun, and inclusive

• Invite proposers and relevant guests such as reps, subject experts or speakers with lived experience to contribute

• Support with meeting accessibility – hybrid meeting technology and ensuring the space is accessible and inclusive

• Write and circulate meeting minutes and support Sabbatical Officers with following up on passed proposals

• Support with promoting Forum, such as helping at popups and creating social media content, to get more students involved

• Be a visible presence – make yourselves known as the go-to people for Forum Shared Values We’re looking for students who: • Believe in the power of student voice

• Value accessibility, inclusion, and kindness

• Are committed to supporting their team and balancing responsibilities

• Are happy to learn as they go – we’ll support you!
