Description

We are looking to find an assistant coach for our women’s 2nd team. This will be a self-employed, consultancy-based position.

Please find a description of the role below:

Our women’s second team (the Furies) is a competitive, selective team that play in Women’s Midlands Tier 3.

The role would involve:

• Traveling with the team and coaching Wednesday BUCs matches

• Attending training to get to know the team and get the best out of them in matches - there is another coach to run all the training sessions so this would be more of an assistant coach role

• Communicating with the other coach and team captain to decide the squad and tactics for each game

• Providing feedback on each game and ideas for how training could be adapted to help improve on match scenarios that you have observed

• Helping the captain and other coach pick the varsity squad for the varsity match vs Cambridge 2s

• Attending and helping coach the varsity match (will require availability for a full Sunday at the end of February/start of March as it is in Cambridge this year)

The most important aspect of this role is Wednesday availability - other aspects of the role are more flexible and can be discussed.

Ideally applicants would have some level of coaching experience, but the role would be well supported, with close interaction with the captain, other coach, and OUAFC committee.

Rate of Pay: A bulk payment of around £55 per match, training would be on a volunteer basis, but a wage may be able to be negotiated. All travel to away games reimbursed at the club's standard rate

Wednesday matches: Home games - kick-off usually 2pm and in Oxford Away games - travel to matches in places like Birmingham, Nottingham, Cambridge etc, travel and match can last from 11am-6pm (travel can be provided if needed) Flexibility over Wednesday timings needed as kick-off times can vary Training: Friday evenings at Greyfriars Catholic School (Cricket Rd, OX4 3DR), Sunday early evenings at Greyfriars Catholic School Any questions, please do not hesitate to get in contact with our President on hannah.byrne@st-hughs.ox.ac.uk.
