An exciting new vacancy has become available as a Food and Beverage Supervisor, working across The Rookery Restaurant and our new bar located in the centre of Carnoustie - Maxi's. This is a permanent position, working 2,080 hours per annum (an average of 40 hours per week), Monday-Sunday. In this position, evening and weekend work will be expected.
The role of Supervisor works with the Food and Beverage Management Team to aid in the responsibility of day-to-day supervision of the agreed standard of service for Carnoustie Golf Links.
The Supervisor will take the lead on creating a vibrant and engaging experience for our customers. They will also lead the team, ensuring a high level of service and customer satisfaction is met.
Key duties of this role include, but are not limited to:
o To pro-actively manage the day-to-day food and beverage operation.
o Ensuring all stock is ordered, liaising with the restaurant manager and food and beverage controller.
o Leading the team, which includes (but is not limited to): rotas, on-shift duties, appraisals, 1-2-1’s, absence management, recruitment, standard operating procedures, maintenance planning, budgets and all other relevant duties to the daily running of shifts
o To supervise shifts, supervising the Front of House team with a positive motivational approach.
o Ensure first-class quality service in all areas of the department.
o Ensure daily staff briefings are being conducted on your shift.
o Support the Food and Beverage Servers in handling all positive and negative guest feedback.
o Considering prevention, recovery and investigation of any customer complaints.
o Anticipate guests’ needs wherever possible and promote hospitality within the business, enhancing guest satisfaction.
o Carry out quality training and coaching with Food and Beverage Servers in a systematic and professional manner.
o Ensure the team are correctly uniformed, in line with company standards and understand the
importance of personal hygiene.
o Ensure team are punctual, polite, courteous and helpful to guests and colleagues at all times.
o Greet customers, make suggestions, present and answer questions on the menu.
o Take orders through the POS system.
o Prepare the bills for beverages and meals ordered and then balance daily transactions.
o Take reservations and booking enquiries.
o Use sales techniques to retain customers and attract more.
o Ensure daily and weekly cleaning is being carried out.
o Apply safety regulations and also health regulations relating to cleanliness.
o Comply with equipment usage guidelines.
o Comply with maintenance guidelines for the restaurant.
o Suggest ideas for new products, equipment and ways of working that could improve our offering.
o Be responsible for processing the tills each evening.
o Be responsible for assisting with the locking and alarming of Maxi’s at the end of the evening, ensuring the building is secured at all times.
o Live the company values and promote brand standards as an ambassador.
o All other tasks as required by Restaurant Manager and Rookery Management Team.
Essential Skills and Behaviours:
o Proven operational knowledge, skills and experience of serving in a first-class restaurant & bar operations
o Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, clients and employees at all levels
o Achieve set, standards and operate to performance criteria; for example, health and safety, hygiene
o Ability to actively support and coach the Front of House team.
o Ability to actively drive sales through incentives, training & development for front of house Servers
o Ability to recall and explain food and drink specials
o A good memory to help remember various kinds of orders, including occurrences where there are lengthy and complicated orders
o Good stamina and ability to stand for long hours while serving customers
o Being a team player is essential
o A positive ‘can-do’ attitude and a proven ability to provide excellent customer service
