We rescue tonnes of quality surplus food from the industry and share it with charities and schools to bring health, dignity and routes out of poverty for people across the south west. Fleet Manager

Hub Supervisor – south Bristol

Fleet Manager

Salary: £29,500 per annum pro rata 
Hours: 30-37.5 hours per week 
Terms: Permanent, 25 days holiday pa (pro rata, exc. Bank Holidays), 5% pension contribution 
Location: Bristol or Plymouth Hubs (with likely travel between hubs) 

The Fleet Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient operation of FareShare South West’s fleet, including vans, HGVs, forklifts and manual handling equipment. The chosen candidate will ensure all vehicles, equipment and drivers operate to the highest standards of safety, legal compliance and operational effectiveness.

The Fleet Manager supports the wider operations and volunteer driving teams (including 2 HGV Drivers) through training, onboarding and best practice guidance. Working in collaboration, the Fleet Manager will drive continuous improvement and contribute to the smooth running of fleet operations.

Person Specification 

Essential:

  • Experience in fleet operations, transport coordination, or a similar operational role
  • Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, safety and compliance requirements
  • Proactive, solution-focused approach with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast paced environment
  • IT competent and confident in using various platforms and systems
  • Full, clean UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in the voluntary sector or with volunteers
  • Experience of managing a fleet, including HGVs
  • Experience of a transport management system
  • Experience of working within a food operation, warehouse, or charitable setting
  • Experience of delivering training or coaching, ideally in a driving, operational or compliance-related context
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and systems
  • Confident communicator who works effectively with cross functional teams

Hub Supervisor – south Bristol

Salary: £26,500 pro rata  
Terms: Permanent, 25 days Holiday pa (pro rata, exc. Bank Holidays), 5% pension contribution 
Hours: 37.5 hours per week. This role is also available as 0.8 (30 hours per week) for the right candidate (hours between 7.30am – 5pm depending on shift pattern, and occasional evening shifts)
Location: 2 Vale Lane, Bristol BS3 5RU, with some flexibility to support our central Bristol hub 

The Hub Supervisor plays an essential role in the smooth running of our South Bristol Hub.

You will work as part of a team to support the hub operations, overseeing incoming goods, storage and dispatching food to member charities, while always maintaining high levels of compliance. This role will include working with a large and diverse team of volunteers.

The role will be primarily based at our South Bristol Hub where, alongside our usual food redistribution operation and volunteering programme, we run our youth employability programme FareChance.

Person Specification 

Essential:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem solver and competent decision maker
  • Full UK driving licence and forklift truck operator’s qualification (or willing to train as an essential part of the role)
  • IT competent and able to use various IT platforms/systems
  • A clear commitment to the ethos of FareShare South West

Desirable:

  • One years’ experience of working in warehousing operations
  • Voluntary sector experience
  • Experience of working with people who require support
  • Experience and knowledge of adhering to health and safety standards
  • Experience of working within a food operation
  • Qualification in Food & Hygiene Level 2
  • Experience of supervising staff and/or volunteers and delegating tasks
  • Experience of delivering training
