Fixed Term Seasonal Assistant Park Ranger

Located at Leybourne Lakes Country Park, this is an exciting opportunity to join our ranger team through the summer period and gain experience in the outdoor leisure/conservation sector. You will be responsible for assisting in the daily operational running of the Country Park, to include:
•General site maintenance
•Enforcing park rules
•Assisting in educational activities and events
•Participating in wildlife surveying and management
•Liaising with the public and responding to onsite queries
•Supervising volunteer days
•Work alongside the Country Park Manager, Ranger, Volunteers and Café team (not a catering role)
The ideal candidate for this role will be self -motivated, demonstrate a positive can-do attitude and the ability to be engaging with visitors. Reliability is important in this role along with the flexibility to be able to work weekends and have differing start-finish times, as required.
A large part of the role will involve strimming, hedge cutting and mowing, etc. previous grounds maintenance experience is preferable. A driver’s license is required to drive the Kubota RTV (automatic).
The ideal person would also have a basic knowledge and enjoyment of the countryside and wildlife. Time can be allowed within the role to focus on a particular interest e.g. butterfly surveying, or just widen your skills in general. On-the-job training will be provided.
Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
