About the Role

As part of our Macmillan project team, you will provide a comprehensive welfare benefits advice service to people affected by cancer and their families. Through expert casework and advocacy, you will help clients maximise their income and access the financial support they are entitled to, reducing financial pressures so they can focus on treatment and recovery.

The role involves:

  • Providing welfare benefits advice and casework support.
  • Assisting clients to access welfare benefits and other sources of financial assistance.
  • Advocating on behalf of clients where appropriate.
  • Delivering a sensitive, client-centred service to people affected by cancer.

Our Macmillan service plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families during an exceptionally difficult time. Alongside your technical knowledge, your empathy, communication skills, and ability to build trust will be key to making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Hours Available

We have a total of 1.6 FTE available. Between 0.6 and 1.0 FTE may be allocated to a Trainee Welfare Benefits Adviser candidate.

Salary

Qualified Welfare Benefits Adviser: £31,997 per annum (full-time equivalent)

Trainee Welfare Benefits Adviser: £28,800 per annum (full-time equivalent)
