Salary: £41,772 - £44,300 per annum plus car allowance & excellent benefits (The salary advertised reflects the pay award effective from 1st April 2026)
Location: Walsall, West Midlands (hybrid working, but presence in the office and on site required to meet business need)
Contract: FTC until 31st March 2027, Full Time, 37 hours per week. Part time hours will also be considered (minimum 3 days per week)

Overview of role:
Are you a fire safety professional with experience of undertaking person centred fire risk assessments, fire door inspections and fire risk assessments in simplistic premises?
Are you passionate about making a difference to our customers, ensuring their homes are safe and educating customers about fire safety? If so, this could be the role you are looking for.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Building Safety Team. You’ll be responsible for carrying out person centred fire risk assessments as part of our responsibility to provide residential personal emergency evacuation plans to our customers, undertaking fire door inspections and supporting our fire risk assessors in completing fire risk assessments in simplistic premises.
The Fire Safety Officer role is a new role within our Fire Safety Team and will be integral in delivering whg’s approach to fire safety. It is a great opportunity for the right person to contribute to the way we both manage and deliver fire safety across whg.
Given the nature of the role, we will need you to have the following qualifications or experience:
- Hold a fire risk assessment qualification
- Have awareness of the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order and Building Safety Act.
- Have previous experience of inspecting fire doors
- Experience of working with individuals to enhance their understanding of fire safety
