Contract:Temporary initially, potential for Permanent
Hours:Full-time (Early finish on Fridays)
Start Date:ASAP
Salary:£31,537 to £34,434 (Hourly Rate £18.37 - £20.06)
What You'll Be Doing
As Finance Officer, you will:
- Support the Finance Business Partner and Business Manager with all aspects of school finance and resource management.
- Maintain accurate financial governance and ensure all financial transactions are up to date and compliant with the Financial Management Handbook.
- Process invoices, orders and financial documentation with accuracy, speed and attention to detail.
- Assist with cashflow management, bank reconciliations, VAT claims, and monthly financial reporting.
- Provide financial training and support to staff with budget responsibilities.
- Contribute to internal and external audit preparation.
- Promote Best Value principles in purchasing and financial decision‑making.
- Work collaboratively as part of the wider Business Support Team, supporting HR and administrative duties when required.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who brings:
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- A degree (or equivalent experience) and commitment to ongoing professional development.
- At least two years of finance experience, ideally in a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of IT systems and the ability to produce spreadsheets, reports and financial documentation.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure.
- A problem‑solving mindset and the ability to provide sound financial solutions.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
Desirable
- Experience using PS Financials.
- Working towards a professional accountancy qualification.
- Experience managing financial and administrative systems.
