Contract:Temporary initially, potential for Permanent

Hours:Full-time (Early finish on Fridays)

Start Date:ASAP

Salary:£31,537 to £34,434 (Hourly Rate £18.37 - £20.06)

What You'll Be Doing

As Finance Officer, you will:

  • Support the Finance Business Partner and Business Manager with all aspects of school finance and resource management.
  • Maintain accurate financial governance and ensure all financial transactions are up to date and compliant with the Financial Management Handbook.
  • Process invoices, orders and financial documentation with accuracy, speed and attention to detail.
  • Assist with cashflow management, bank reconciliations, VAT claims, and monthly financial reporting.
  • Provide financial training and support to staff with budget responsibilities.
  • Contribute to internal and external audit preparation.
  • Promote Best Value principles in purchasing and financial decision‑making.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the wider Business Support Team, supporting HR and administrative duties when required.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who brings:

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • A degree (or equivalent experience) and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • At least two years of finance experience, ideally in a school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of IT systems and the ability to produce spreadsheets, reports and financial documentation.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • A problem‑solving mindset and the ability to provide sound financial solutions.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

Desirable

  • Experience using PS Financials.
  • Working towards a professional accountancy qualification.
  • Experience managing financial and administrative systems.
