Summary of the role We’re looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead our finance func(cid:415)on and play a key role in shaping the organisa(cid:415)on’s future. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll oversee financial management, budge(cid:415)ng, repor(cid:415)ng and compliance, while suppor(cid:415)ng the organisa(cid:415)on to deliver impac(cid:414)ul, financially sustainable work. You’ll guide year-end accounts and audits, strengthen internal controls, and provide clear insight to the CEO, Director of Development and Trustees. We are very keen to hear from underrepresented voices, par(cid:415)cularly trans and non-binary, Black and/or PoC candidates. About Just Like Us Just Like Us is the LGBT+ young people’s charity. Founded in 2016, we work with primary schools, secondary schools and sixth form colleges across the UK to improve the lives of LGBT+ young people. To do that, we run these unique programmes: ● Ambassador programme: Our Ambassador Programme is a volunteering opportunity for LGBT+ young people aged 18-25. We support them to use their voice in schools and in the media, to develop their skills and to find a sense of community. ● School talks: Secondary schools can book a talk from our ambassadors. Visi(cid:415)ng schools in- person or live through an online pla(cid:414)orm, they share their personal experiences, talk about allyship and answer ques(cid:415)ons. ● Pride Groups: This free programme supports schools to run safe and fun spaces for LGBT+ young people and their allies at lunch(cid:415)me or a(cid:332)er school. ● Curriculum Resource Portal: With over 6,500+ primary and secondary schools signed up to our free resource portal across the UK, we have hundreds of resources for all subjects and key stages. ● School Diversity Week: School Diversity Week is our annual celebra(cid:415)on of LGBT+ inclusion in educa(cid:415)on. We encourage schools to take up an ac(cid:415)vity and a whole school approach. Key Responsibili(cid:415)es Financial Management & Controls ● Manage the Finance Assistant. ● Oversee all day-to-day financial opera(cid:415)ons, including invoicing, payments, receivables, reconcilia(cid:415)ons and dra(cid:332) and post all month end journals. ● Ensure strong internal financial controls, compliance with financial regula(cid:415)ons, and effec(cid:415)ve systems for transparency and accuracy across the organisa(cid:415)on. ● Manage restricted, unrestricted and designated funds, ensuring accurate tracking, repor(cid:415)ng and compliance with funder requirements. Financial Planning, Budge(cid:415)ng & Repor(cid:415)ng ● Deliver accurate monthly management accounts, forecasts and financial analysis for internal and external stakeholders, including Trustees, funders and senior leaders. ● Lead the annual organisa(cid:415)onal budget-se(cid:427)ng process, working closely with budget holders to develop accurate and realis(cid:415)c budgets for services, projects and organisa(cid:415)onal plans. ● Maintain rolling cashflow forecasts, ensuring the organisa(cid:415)on’s liquidity and investment management are robust. ● With the Development Team prepare financial repor(cid:415)ng for key funders and support the development of funding applica(cid:415)ons with clear financial modelling. ● Provide financial advice and support to managers and project leads, helping them interpret financial informa(cid:415)on and manage budgets effec(cid:415)vely. Statutory Compliance & External Repor(cid:415)ng ● With our accountants, oversee the prepara(cid:415)on of year-end statutory accounts for the charity and any subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with SORP, FRS102 and charity accoun(cid:415)ng standards. ● Manage the external audit process, liaising with auditors and preparing suppor(cid:415)ng schedules and documenta(cid:415)on. ● Ensure (cid:415)mely submission of statutory returns to the Charity Commission, HMRC, funders and banking partners. ● Oversee VAT or other sector-specific tax ma(cid:425)ers, preparing calcula(cid:415)ons, submi(cid:427)ng returns and working with external advisors where required. ● Champion good governance, ethical leadership, and the mission of Just Like Us Leadership & Strategic Contribu(cid:415)on ● Act as a key member of the organisa(cid:415)on, contribu(cid:415)ng to organisa(cid:415)onal strategy, business planning and decision-making. ● Provide strategic financial insight and act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, Trustees and senior leaders, ensuring financial considera(cid:415)ons inform organisa(cid:415)onal priori(cid:415)es. ● Par(cid:415)cipate in Board and Finance Commi(cid:425)ee mee(cid:415)ngs when required, presen(cid:415)ng financial reports and suppor(cid:415)ng governance processes. Person specifica(cid:415)on Essen(cid:415)al ● Professional qualifica(cid:415)on in accoun(cid:415)ng (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA). ● Senior experience in charity finance, with a can-do a(cid:427)tude and a hands-on approach. ● Strong track record of producing monthly management accounts, forecasts and financial analysis. ● Experience managing restricted, unrestricted and designated funds within a charity context. ● Ability to communicate financial informa(cid:415)on clearly to non-finance colleagues, senior leaders and Trustees. ● Commitment to the values mission and goals of Just Like Us. ● Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
