The Vacancy

The Opportunity

You will be responsible for delivering accurate, insightful and timely financial information that supports effective decision-making across Housing and Independent Living services. Leading specialist finance teams, you will drive excellence in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and continuous improvement, while building strong relationships with stakeholders at every level of the organisation.

You'll play a critical role in supporting the Housing Leadership Team, ensuring financial performance is understood, risks are identified, and opportunities are maximised.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Housing and Independent Living Financial Reporting teams, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely management information.
  • Produce and present monthly management accounts and financial performance reports to senior leadership teams.
  • Lead the quarterly forecasting process, providing insightful analysis and commentary to support strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with operational and divisional leaders to improve financial understanding, performance and accountability.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual budgeting and long-term financial planning process for Housing and Independent Living services.
  • Oversee the finance elements of the annual service charge cycle, helping to ensure accuracy, transparency and effective cost recovery.
  • Manage the financial reporting contribution to statutory accounts production, working closely with Financial Accounting colleagues.
  • Drive continuous improvement across financial processes, systems and controls, identifying efficiencies and enhancing ways of working.
  • Support Group Treasury through the preparation and review of cash flow forecasts.
  • Foster strong collaboration across finance teams, sharing best practice and driving consistency across the wider function.
  • Develop high-performing teams through coaching, succession planning and effective people leadership.

About You

We're looking for a technically strong finance professional who combines commercial awareness with exceptional stakeholder management skills.

You'll bring:

  • A recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • At least five years' post-qualification experience in a senior finance, reporting or business partnering role.
  • Extensive experience of management accounting, forecasting, budgeting and financial planning.
  • A proven track record of partnering with senior operational leaders and influencing decision-making outside of finance.
  • Strong leadership experience with the ability to develop, motivate and manage sizeable teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and provide clear financial insight.
  • Advanced Excel and strong financial systems expertise.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and driving operational excellence.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within the housing sector.
  • Knowledge of service charge accounting and recovery processes.
  • Experience supporting or leading statutory accounting processes.
  • Experience implementing or developing finance systems and reporting tools.
