Job Purpose
To supervise and support Care/Support Workers, ensure high-quality and safe care delivery, and maintain
person-centred services that enable individuals to remain independent in their own homes. The Field Care
Supervisor is responsible for assessments, reviews, risk management, ECM monitoring, accurate record
keeping, and day-to-day oversight of service delivery in line with organisational policies and CQC
standards

Key Responsibilities
Care Quality, Assessment & Review

•  Complete service user assessments, care plans and risk assessments.
•  Carry out regular reviews and update documentation as needs change.
•  Attend first visits to introduce Care Workers and ensure safe handover.
•  Monitor care delivery through spot checks, observations and quality audits.
•  Ensure medication support is delivered safely and recorded accurately.

Staff Supervision, Performance & Development

Identify training needs and support staff development.

•  Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance and support to Care/Support Workers.
•  Conduct competency checks, shadowing and field-based training.

•  Promote safe working practices, professionalism and adherence to policies.
•  Participate fully in supervision, training, appraisal and 1-to-1 meetings.

ECM (Electronic Call Monitoring), Digital Systems & Data Maintenance

•  Monitor real-time visit data (log-in/log-out) using the ECM system (e.g., BIRDIE).
•  Respond promptly to alerts, missed calls, late visits or discrepancies.
•  Collate accurate records of completed visits for operational and finance teams.
•  Support Care Workers with troubleshooting ECM issues and app usage.

•  Train new Care Workers on downloading, navigating and using the ECM app.
•  Ensure all digital and paper-based records are accurate, complete and maintained to a high

standard.

•  Update care plans, risk assessments, visit logs and service user information promptly.
•  Carry out regular data audits to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance.
•  Report any data errors, gaps or concerns to management.

    Scheduling, Monitoring & On-Call

•  Support Care Coordinators with allocating unassigned calls.
•  Allocate calls during on-call shifts and complete visits when required.
•  Ensure all changes to schedules are communicated promptly.
•  Participate in the on-call rota to provide emergency support.

Safeguarding, Safety & Incident Management

Identify, prevent and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with policy.

•
•  Attend safeguarding investigation meetings when required.
•  Report incidents, accidents, near misses and quality concerns promptly.
•  Monitor hygiene, infection control and equipment safety in service users’ homes.
•
•  Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety legislation.

Implement and review risk assessment action plans.

Communication & Partnership Working

•  Maintain professional communication with service users, families and carers.
•  Liaise with colleagues, health professionals and external agencies.
•  Support consistent delivery of person-centred, outcome-focused care.
•  Provide accurate information for management reporting and decision-making.

CQC Compliance

    The Field Care Supervisor supports the organisation in meeting CQC requirements by:

•  Following safe working practices and organisational policies.
•  Maintaining accurate and up-to-date care documentation.
•  Promoting person-centred, dignified and responsive care.
•  Supporting quality monitoring activities such as spot checks and audits.
•  Escalating concerns promptly to management.
•  Being prepared to support CQC inspections and contribute information for CQC

submissions when required.

Essential Criteria

Essential

•  NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care (working towards Level 3).
•  Minimum 2 years’ experience in health or social care.
•  Strong communication, organisational and supervisory skills.
•  Ability to complete assessments and risk assessments.
•  Knowledge of safeguarding, medication procedures and care legislation.
•  Ability to work under pressure and manage emergencies.
•  Ability to travel within the borough.
•  Confidence using digital systems, including ECM platforms.
•  Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate record keeping.

Desirable

•  Level 3 Risk Assessment certificate.
•  Experience supporting older people, LD, MH or physical disabilities.
•  Ability to speak Bengali (Sylheti).
•  Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
