We have an exciting opportunity for a female support worker to join our adult services team in Poole, where you'll be supporting a young gentleman.

The role 

Myles lives independently in his own home in Poole. He communicates both verbally and through visual aids such as PECS cards, signs and gestures, giving him his own unique way of sharing his thoughts and preferences.

He enjoys a range of activities, such as:

  • Singing his heart out at karaoke night.
  • Relaxing at the cinema watching the latest film.
  • Challenging his support workers to a game of bowling.
  • On quieter days, Myles likes to unwind at home watching his favourite marvel movies or spending quality time with his family.

Myles receives 1:1 support and relies on his support staff. He requires assistance with personal care, medication and meal preparation.

Our ideal candidate would be someone who is calm, patient and confident with implementing boundaries which ensures Myles feels safe. Routine and consistency is very important to Myles as this helps him understand what is happening throughout the day.

As a valued member of our team, your role will involve a mix of meaningful support, from helping with daily routines like food preparation, shopping, and personal care, to accompanying residents as they access the community and pursue their interests. You may also assist with administering medication to ensure their wellbeing.

Hours: 25.5 hours per week

This would be a mixture of shifts between 7am – 10pm - Monday - Sunday

This role would include alternate weekends and sleep ins (sleep ins come with an additional payment)

A day in the life of a Support Worker would include:

  • Sharing your skills and life knowledge with the people we support to enable good life skills and independence when living in the community
  • Maintaining consistent and accurate records regarding care plans, finances, appointments and medication
  • Following the support plan in plan for each person we support to enable the person to feel comfortable and happy, adapting this as required based on change in behaviour
  • Providing some elements of personal care from personal hygiene prompts, helping to bath and wash, medication
