This opportunity is with a well-established, family-owned potato production operation located in Newton, Prince Edward Island. The farm specializes in producing potatoes for a variety of sectors, including chipping, processing, table, and seed industries. We are looking for a motivated and disciplined individual to join a team dedicated to high standards of workmanship. In this role, you will be a key part of the day-to-day operations, responsible for operating advanced machinery and ensuring the farm’s equipment remains in peak condition through shop-based service and maintenance.

Job responsibilities

  • Machinery Operation: Operate a variety of farm equipment, including tractors for planting, tillage, and harvesting.

  • Specialized Equipment: Handle self-propelled sprayers, combines, fertilizer spreading equipment, and related machinery.

  • Heavy Transport: Operate heavy trucks (requires a Class 3A licence, or a willingness to obtain one).

  • Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine equipment servicing, mechanical repairs, and basic fabrication in the shop.

  • Site Management: Maintain cleanliness and organization within the shop, yard, and equipment storage areas.

  • Safety: Strictly follow all farm safety procedures and established operating standards.

Job requirements:

  • A minimum of intermediate English skills is required, equivalent to an IELTS score of 4.5–5.0.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude is required.

  • Previous experience with farm equipment is an asset.

  • Experience in welding or electrical work is considered a significant advantage.

  • Must be disciplined, reliable, punctual, and demonstrate a high level of accountability.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment while also being able to follow directions and work independently when needed.

  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and take pride in maintaining clean workspaces and well-cared-for equipment.

  • A willingness to work longer hours during peak agricultural seasons.
