Family Wellbeing Worker – Kinship Care (30hrs)

Help Kinship Carers Feel Supported, Connected and Heard
Families Matter Kinship Care Service is looking for a warm, compassionate and motivated Family Wellbeing Worker – Kinship Care to join our team and help make a difference for kinship carers we support across Glasgow.
This is an exciting 12-month pilot post created to strengthen support for kinship carers, with a particular focus on developing and delivering a Kinship Carer Peer Support Programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping this new area of work, helping carers build confidence, resilience and connection while contributing to learning that may inform future service development.
Kinship carers provide safe, stable and nurturing homes for children within their wider family and community networks. This role will help ensure they do not face that responsibility alone.
About the Role
You will provide practical and emotional support to kinship carers through group-based activities, peer support, workshops, drop-ins and one-to-one interventions. Working closely with our Kinship Family Support Practitioners, volunteers, peer mentors and partner agencies, you will identify carers' needs and respond in a flexible, inclusive and strengths-based way.
A key aspect of the role will be developing and facilitating peer support opportunities while building strong links with existing kinship care and carer support networks across Glasgow. You will help carers access the right support at the right time, strengthen pathways between services and ensure support is coordinated rather than duplicated.
In line with The Promise, you will work alongside kinship carers in ways that are relational, strengths-based and responsive to what matters most to them. You will champion carers' voices, ensuring their lived experience informs the development, delivery and evaluation of support.
We Are Looking for Someone Who Can:
- Build trusting and respectful relationships with kinship carers and families.
- Design and facilitate peer support groups, workshops and informal support sessions.
- Provide practical and emotional support to carers facing challenges.
- Engage carers who may feel isolated or less likely to access services.
- Develop positive relationships with existing kinship care, family support and carer support services, creating effective pathways and opportunities for collaboration.
- Promote participation and co-production, ensuring carers have meaningful opportunities to influence the support they receive.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the values and principles of The Promise, putting relationships, listening and family support at the heart of practice.
- Work effectively with colleagues, volunteers and partner agencies.
- Support carers to feel more connected, confident and resilient.
- Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and service improvement.
About You
You will have experience of working with families, carers, children or vulnerable individuals, particularly where trauma, adversity or complex family circumstances may be present. You will be approachable, organised and confident in supporting people both individually and in groups.
You will also understand the value of community-based support and partnership working, recognising that strong outcomes for carers are achieved through effective collaboration with existing services, networks and support groups.
A relevant qualification in social care, community development, family support, childcare, youth work, health and social care or a related field is desirable. PVG Scheme membership will be required.
A full UK driving licence and access to a car, is required to support community-based delivery across service locations.
