Family Support Worker

Covering Thurrock

Hours – 30 per week 

Working Pattern – Monday – Friday 

Salary – £27,000 + £683.99 outer fringe per annum pro rata

Closing date – 2nd April 2026

Summary

To provide focused family support to clients and families: they will act as a lead professional, giving 1-1 support and deliver appropriate interventions taking a whole family approach to substance misuse treatment. The Family Support Worker will focus on a multi- agency approach and build up strong links with partner agencies including Children and Young people services.

 

What you’ll be doing

Undertaking family assessments needs of clients referred to Open Road and providing 1-1 interventions, whilst delivering and facilitating group work where appropriate. Educating the families and friends of drug and alcohol users and offer up to date information and advice. To establish connections with the local community including school to promote the service, offering support and advice to parents. Recognising child protection issues and maintain links with appropriate agencies. To visit clients at home and other settings, providing completed risk assessments where required.

What you need

  • To be able to demonstrate ability to network and build professional working relationships.
  • To have knowledge of substance misuse issues, and to be able to demonstrate relevant experience of working with family or couples.
  • Willingness to undertake training and continuing professional development
  • Excellent communication, time management and administrative skills.
  • Ability to plan implement and facilitate group work, to be able to reflect and develop practice.
  • The ability to collect required data and keep accurate records.
