SUMMARY
The Family Foundations Officer plays a key role in ADRA’s philanthropic strategy by identifying and cultivating relationships with small and mid-sized private foundations, especially those with family-led governance. The Officer manages the complete grant lifecycle, including research, application development, reporting, and stewardship, while collaborating across departments to gather essential content and data.

- Consistent growth in revenue from small and mid-sized family foundations through strategic identification, cultivation, and successful grant submissions.
- A strong, continuously refreshed, and systemically managed pipeline of qualified family foundation prospects aligned with ADRA’s mission and program priorities, utilizing research platforms and CRM tools for tracking, forecasting, and movement management.
- High-quality, compelling, and competitive grant proposals submitted on time and aligned with foundation guidelines and funding interests.
- Accurate, timely submission of all grant reports and fulfillment of compliance requirements, resulting in zero missed deadlines or reporting deficiencies.
- Strengthened cross-departmental collaboration to efficiently gather program data, budgets, and impact stories for proposals and reports.
- Increased rate of repeat funding and multi-year awards from family foundations through effective stewardship and relationship management.
- Development and implementation of structured, efficient foundation grant management processes, including standardized internal workflows, documentation practices, and CRM tracking.
- Enhanced reputation of ADRA among family foundations as a responsive, transparent, and results-driven partner.
- Meaningful foundation engagement through meetings, briefings, and stewardship touchpoints that deepen funder confidence and trust.

PRE-REQUISITES
Required
-
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, nonprofit management, business, international development, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of experience in grant writing or nonprofit fundraising, with demonstrated success in foundation engagement.
- Strong writing, editing, and analytical skills.
- Proven project management skills and the ability to handle multiple deadlines.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders and departments.
- Experience with donor or grant management systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred
- Familiarity with international development or humanitarian sector.
- Experience using Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar CRM.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Functional Responsibilities
- Research and identify prospective family foundations aligned with ADRA’s mission and program areas.
- Manage the entire grant application process, including proposal writing, budget coordination, and submission.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of private and family foundations.
- Monitor foundation trends and emerging priorities within the humanitarian and international development sectors.
- Coordinate with ADRA departments to gather program information, data, and success stories for proposals and reports.
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements through timely reporting and communication with foundations.
- Maintain up-to-date records in ADRA’s donor management system.
- Build long-term relationships with foundation contacts through personalized stewardship.
- Represent ADRA at donor meetings or foundation-related events as requested.

TRAVEL
Up to 15% domestic and international travel required. Must have the ability to travel on short notice if necessary.
