As Facilities Operations Assistant, you will support the Operations Manager in the day-to-day running of
the busy domestic department.

Key responsibilities

•  Carry out a range of porterage duties as directed by the Operations Manager with particular
focus on set up for school events, providing laundry service for the school and distribution of
post/parcel deliveries.

•  Ability to work autonomously and self-motivated to manage tasks independently.
•  To drive the school minibus, when required to by the Foundation, as part of adhoc school

activity and provision of School transport, to and from school, for pupils.

•  To conduct setting up furniture for events ensuring H&S compliance.
•  Drive a school vehicles for porterage duties.
•  Provide cover for unlocking/locking in the absence of the caretaker.
•  Receive and accurately record exam papers, delivering them securely to the exams office.
•  Co-ordinate and deliver the laundry and post to the Boarding houses.
•  Support the laundry assistant in washing and folding of clothes under direction.
•  Undertake legionella flushing over holiday periods under the direction of Deputy Head of

Estates.

•  Assist the Estates team with carrying out regular swimming pool water testing throughout the
week, recording the results and reporting to Deputy Head of Estates in the event of the results
being outside of the acceptable parameters.

•  Attend the Events Planning Meetings and work with the team to make suitable arrangements
for the forthcoming school events. This may include car park management, furniture set ups,
access control and signage preparation and distribution.

•  To be responsible for a wide range of cleaning duties and responsibilities within certain areas of
the School site as allocated by the Operations Manager, which may vary from time to time, and
to ensure that all areas of work are thoroughly cleaned to the required standard and spec.

•  To be compliant with the Health and Safety practices of the site.

•  To keep chemicals and cleaning materials and equipment storage areas clean and tidy, and

report low stock levels of materials for which you are responsible.

•  Comply with the School’s safety policy regarding COSHH and manual handling and to use

cleaning materials as instructed by the Domestic Manager.

You will be expected to:

•  Conduct yourself with professionalism, tact and diplomacy at all times as a representative of Kingswood
•  Observe health and safety procedures and work safely at all times
•  To comply with all school policies and procedures including reporting any concerns to the appropriate

person in relation to those covering child protection, health, safety, welfare, security, confidentiality and
data protection.

No job description can fully cover all aspects of the role and consequently the responsibilities are
likely to evolve and change over time.

Skills, qualifications and experience

You will have experience in a similar role, together with a full manual driving licence and a sound
working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, including COSHH and Manual Handling
guidelines. You will bring a friendly, professional and positive attitude, with a warm and caring manner,
and be highly organised, punctual, reliable and trustworthy. You will be flexible and self-motivated, with
the proven ability to work autonomously and manage tasks independently, while also contributing
effectively as part of a team. You will manage your time efficiently in response to the changing demands
of the position and take pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Strong
interpersonal skills and the ability to interact appropriately with members of the school community are
essential. A good general level of physical fitness is required, as the role involves lifting and carrying
within HSE guidelines. You will also demonstrate emotional resilience, the ability to remain calm under
pressure, and a clear commitment to equal opportunities and safeguarding practice.

Evidence of relevant professional development, a proactive and flexible ‘can-do’ attitude and an
openness to new ideas and ways of working are beneficial. A D1 driving licence is desirable for this role;
however, full training and support will be provided to enable the successful candidate to obtain this
qualification.

Child protection

It is your responsibility to help promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for
whom you are responsible, or with whom you come into contact, and to adhere to and ensure
compliance with the School’s Child Protection Policy Statement at all times. If, in the course of carrying
out the duties of the post, you become aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of

children in the school, you must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Protecting children from the risk of radicalisation is part of the School’s safeguarding duties (under the
Prevent Duty).

Terms and Conditions

This is a full-time, year-round position with a standard working week of 37 hours. Shifts will typically be
between 10.00am and 6.00pm, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day.  The
School is open to discussion around these hours.

The role offers a paid holiday entitlement of 6.6 weeks per year (equivalent to 33 days), inclusive of
public bank holidays. While the School typically closes for a period over Christmas, the specific dates are
determined annually by the Senior Management Team. Any additional non-working days granted during
this closure period are discretionary and do not form part of the contractual holiday entitlement.

The salary for this position is in the region on £26.5k to £29k, depending on qualifications and
experience.
