Glendower Preparatory School EYFS Teacher - Maternity Cover Start Date: September 2026 Job Purpose To provide high-quality teaching and learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), fostering the holistic development of young learners while contributing to the overall ethos and goals of Glendower Prep School and Little Glendower Nursery. Key Responsibilities Teaching and Learning • Plan, prepare, and deliver a broad, balanced, and engaging EYFS curriculum tailored to the developmental needs of all pupils. • Use innovative and creative teaching methods to foster curiosity, engagement, and a love of learning. • Create a nurturing, supportive, and stimulating environment conducive to the development of literacy, numeracy, social, and emotional skills. • Conduct assessments, including baseline assessments, and track pupil progress using data to inform teaching strategies. • Promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development through well-rounded learning experiences. • Support smooth transition from EYFS to Key Stage 1 as required. Pastoral Care • Provide a secure, inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported. • Foster positive relationships with parents and carers, maintaining open communication about academic, social, and emotional progress. • Promote positive behaviour, encouraging pupils to build and maintain positive attitudes toward learning. Classroom Management • Maintain high standards of behaviour and discipline, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment. • Organise the classroom to encourage independent learning and exploration. • Celebrate achievement and process (not necessarily product) with calm classroom displays. Collaboration and Professional Development • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and specialist teachers to deliver the best outcomes for pupils. • Attend staff meetings, INSET days, and planning sessions, and contribute to whole-school initiatives. • Stay updated on EYFS pedagogy, regulations, and best practices through professional development. Extra-Curricular Contributions • Participate in extra-curricular activities, including trips, after-school clubs, events, and transition initiatives such as open mornings, and parent meetings. Person Specification Qualifications Essential • A full and relevant degree in education or a related field with either of the following qualifications: o Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), o Early Year Professional Status (EYPS), o Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) Desirable o Valid, 12-hour blended paediatric first aid qualification Experience Essential Desirable • Experience in an EYFS setting, • Proven experience with EYFS frameworks and age-appropriate learning strategies. • Experience within a preparatory school or independent nursery setting • Knowledge and understanding of Froebelian principles Skills and Attributes • Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework, including regulatory and safeguarding requirements. • Ability to implement differentiated teaching strategies to meet varying abilities. • Proficient in using technology to enhance teaching and communication, for example, using Tapestry and ISAMS platforms • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster collaboration with pupils, parents, and colleagues. • Emotional intelligence, warmth, and approachability to nurture young learners effectively.
