The Board of Governors at Alec Reed Academy invites applications for the role of Executive Principal, an exceptional opportunity to lead a thriving all-through school at the heart of its community.
This appointment comes at a significant moment for the Academy, following the retirement of the current Principal. It marks both a celebration of strong foundations and an opportunity to shape the next phase of the Academy’s development with clarity, ambition and purpose.
Alec Reed Academy is a distinctive all-through setting, serving pupils from early years through to sixth form. Its integrated structure provides a rare platform for a leader to influence educational journeys across all key stages, ensuring continuity, coherence and excellence in teaching, learning and pastoral care. The Academy is deeply rooted in its local community, with high levels of engagement from families and stakeholders, and a clear commitment to inclusion, aspiration and opportunity for all.
We are seeking a leader of presence and credibility, capable of inspiring confidence across a diverse and ambitious school community. The successful candidate will bring a strong track record of senior leadership, ideally within complex or multi-phase settings, alongside the strategic vision and operational expertise required to lead at scale. Just as importantly, they will demonstrate the emotional intelligence and values-driven leadership needed to build relationships, nurture talent and sustain a culture where students are placed firmly at the centre of every decision.
This is an opportunity to lead a school with a strong sense of identity and purpose, while navigating the wider challenges facing the education sector, including financial sustainability, workforce pressures and evolving expectations of schools within their communities. The Executive Principal will play a pivotal role in shaping the Academy’s future championing academic excellence, strengthening community partnerships and ensuring that every student is supported to succeed.
For an experienced and forward-thinking leader, this role offers both challenge and reward: the chance to make a lasting impact within a dynamic all-through academy and to build on a legacy of commitment, care and achievement.
Alec Reed Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
