Evening Site Operative/Caretaker
King Edward’s School, Bath is seeking a reliable and practical Evening Site Operative/Caretaker to join our Estates and Facilities team. This is a varied role supporting the smooth running, security and upkeep of the School site during the evening, including overseeing facility hires, securing buildings, setting up for events, transporting items across the campus, carrying out basic cleaning and maintenance tasks, and helping to keep the School environment safe, tidy and welcoming.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee evening use of school facilities, including external hires and bookings.
- Support the set-up and clear-down of School events and activities.
- Help secure the School siteby locking buildings, closing windows and switching off lights.
- Carry out general caretaking, cleaning and routine maintenance tasks.
- Keep external areas tidyand ensure waste and recycling is managed appropriately.
- Transport items and equipmentaround and between School sites.
- Report faults, hazards or health and safety concerns promptly.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Practical, reliable and flexibleapproach to work.
- Friendly, helpful and approachablemanner.
- Positive can do attitudeand willingness to support a varied range of tasks.
- Ability to carry out physical tasks, including moving furniture, equipment and supplies.
- Ability to work well as part of a teamand communicate effectively with staff, pupils, visitors and contractors.
- Good awareness of health and safety, including the ability to identify and report hazards.
- Basic IT skills.
- Full, clean driving licencewould be advantageous, although not essential.
