Background
Wheelchair basketball is the biggest Paralympic team sport. It is a fast-paced and fast-growing sport that allows disabled and non-disabled people to compete together in its domestic leagues and competitions.
British Wheelchair Basketball is the national governing body for wheelchair basketball in the UK. We are a registered charity and representative body of wheelchair basketball in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
We are responsible for delivering the sport at all levels, from grassroots to the GB teams who compete at the Paralympic Games. We run domestic leagues and competitions, run coaching and development programmes and qualifications for coaches and officials, and support a network of clubs across the country. We also run the GB elite performance programme and the development pathways that underpin it.
Overview of the Role
England Pathway Head Coach’s role will be to work with England Pathway Assistant coaches to plan, deliver and review various training and competitions aligned to the England Player Pathway. The role will include attending the National Junior Championships and School Games as a Coach and will also be expected to act as a scout across the various leagues throughout the year.
- The coach must be willing to fully engage in all CPD.
- They must have the ability to create strong relationships with club coaches.
- The coach must also be available and support facilitation of educational sessions.
- Must hold at least a Level 2 coaching qualification.
- Must have a strong coaching background, knowledge, and passion for coaching players in the pathway.
- Must have aspirations to coach professionally/internationally
