Engagement Manager (Marketing & Admissions)
Westminster School is a busy and vibrant place to work. There is a real sense of community here as, being a boarding school, many members of staff and pupils live on site and the School’s premises are very much treated as a home away from home. Support staff, as much as teaching staff, are encouraged to embrace the School’s day-to-day activities, whether that be attending an evening concert or a morning service in the Abbey.
The Westminster School Marketing and Communications department works across both schools within the wider Charity: Westminster School (ages 13-18 senior school) and Westminster Under School (ages 4-13 prep school). It is a particularly exciting time to be joining the department, as the two schools move towards full co-education and introduce three new Pre-Prep years.
The role Westminster School is looking for an Engagement Manager (Marketing & Admissions) to shape and then deliver the School’s key recruitment messages to a range of audiences, including prospective families and feeder schools. The postholder will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications and will be responsible for maintaining good relationships with key feeder schools and nurseries through correspondence and visits. They will attend external recruitment events, prepare materials for, and assist with the School’s open days. In conjunction with senior teachers and the Admissions team, the successful applicant will help devise and manage events for offer-holder families, such as information evenings, special Westminster Abbey services, taster days, etc. A large part of the role will involve recruitment marketing and promotion, supporting marketing campaigns and ensuring prospectuses and handouts are up-to-date. There will also be an element of international and boarding engagement, with some overseas travel if and when required.
This role would suit someone with either (or both) a marketing or admissions background – but certainly someone who sees the importance of good customer service and who is willing to seek and rely on data to make changes that will see continuous improvement. Previous experience of admissions and marketing functions at a school, college or university is highly desirable, but we are equally keen to welcome applications from those with relevant experience in other sectors. This varied, proactive role requires a collaborative communicator who can work autonomously, engage with a wide range of stakeholders, manage multiple deadlines, and make informed decisions about how the School is represented to prospective families. Candidates will need to display working knowledge of collecting and tracking data to help inform decisions, and will have excellent written and spoken English.
The role is full time but can be offered as a full-time, term-time only contract. The salary is £45,000 per annum, for a full-time, year-round member of staff.
