Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for an Employee Relations Advisor to join our People team.

This role will report into the HR Manager and will focus exclusively on Employee Relations casework, supporting managers across the organisation with complex people matters.

About us

Centrepoint works with vulnerable young people across the UK, providing accommodation, health support and life skills to help them move into education, employment and independent living.

Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year. Our ambition is to end youth homelessness by 2037.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional to take ownership of a varied Employee Relations caseload, providing expert advice and guidance to managers across the organisation.

Reporting to the HR Manager, you will manage cases end-to-end, including disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence and performance management matters. You will work closely with managers to ensure issues are handled fairly, consistently and in line with employment law and Centrepoint policies.

This role is not a developmental or step-up advisory role. We are looking for someone who is confident managing ER casework independently and can lead cases from initial advice through to resolution.

The role will also contribute to improving manager capability by providing coaching and guidance, identifying trends through ER data and supporting initiatives that enhance colleague experience across the organisation.

Centrepoint operates a hybrid working model, requiring colleagues to spend a minimum of 50% of their working time in the office. For most full-time colleagues this equates to five days across a two-week period.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing a full Employee Relations caseloadincluding disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence and performance management cases
  • Leading ER cases end-to-end, including investigations, hearings and outcomes where required
  • Providing timely, pragmatic and legally compliant advice to managers and colleagues
  • Supporting and coaching managers to handle people matters effectively and consistently
  • Maintaining accurate ER records and case trackers
  • Reviewing ER data and trends to identify opportunities to improve colleague experience
  • Working closely with the wider People team to deliver a consistent and joined-up HR service
  • Supporting ER-related projects and training initiatives where required

About you

We are looking for someone who brings strong Employee Relations experience and the confidence to support managers through complex situations.

You will be comfortable managing a busy ER caseload, working with ambiguity and balancing multiple priorities while maintaining excellent attention to detail.

You will also be able to build strong working relationships across the organisation and provide clear, professional advice on sensitive matters.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience managing Employee Relations casework independently
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Proven ability to manage complex ER cases from start to finish
  • Confidence advising and appropriately challenging managers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseloadeffectively
  • Experience working with HR systems and data
  • CIPD Level 3 (or equivalent HR experience) desirable
