ABOUT THE
ROLE
Incorporated by Royal Charter in 1514, Trinity House has safeguarded
mariners and UK coastal waters for over 500 years. As the General Lighthouse
Authority for England, Wales, the Channel Islands and Gibraltar, we operate and
maintain lighthouses, lightvessels and offshore buoys, combining maritime
expertise with modern technology.
We are seeking a practical, hands-on Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) to
support Trinity House’s specialist fleet and vital navigation service.
You will work across Trinity House’s specialist fleet, maintaining
established electrical systems alongside modern marine technology, while
helping ensure smooth operational readiness as two new vessels are delivered in
2029 to replace the current fleet.
WHAT WILL YOU DO
Maintain and troubleshoot fleet
electrical and control systems.
Carry out repairs to lighting, power
distribution, galley equipment, circuits, relays and sensors.
Maintain, inspect and test electrical
systems on offshore Major Aids to Navigation.
Support buoy operations, deck machinery,
cranes and winches alongside the seamanship team.
Maintain and troubleshoot radar, radio,
GMDSS and bridge electronics.
Opportunity to contribute to fleet
modernization projects and transition support for the new hybrid vessels.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
Essential
CoC: STCW III/6 ETO Certificate of Competency (or Senior ETO CoC).
Education: HNC / HND in Marine/Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent NVQ Level 3).
Certifications: Valid Unrestricted ENG1 Medical Certificate.
Work Auth: Valid UK Passport holder or valid UK Work Permit.
STCW Safety Refresher: Valid STCW certificates in line with MSN 1860 Section 7.2.
Radio & Electronics: AMERC GMDSS Radio Maintenance Certificate & AMERC Electronic Navigation Equipment Maintenance (ENEM).
High Voltage: High Voltage (Management Level) Certificate.
Desirable
DP Maintenance certification or
experience, preferably Kongsberg.
Strong practical fault-finding skills
across legacy and modern digital systems.
New-build, vessel commissioning, shipyard
delivery, or integration project experience.
Experience working with hybrid power
systems, modern vessel automation.
Experience working with seamanship teams
or heavy deck machinery.WHAT DO WE OFFER
