Job Title: EDUCATION SERVICES FACILITATOR
Grade: SCP 10-17 (£27694-£31022) pro rata
Hours of work: 35 hours per week (open to job share and flexible working)

Background information
The following information is provided to help staff joining Step 2 to understand
and appreciate the work content of the post and the role they are to play in the
organisation. However the following points should be noted.
1. Whilst every endeavour has been made to outline all duties and

3. Employees will be required to participate in an induction programme this
may include training and planning sessions.
Main Purpose:
To develop and deliver, in partnership with the Relationship and Wellbeing
(RWB) team and Youth Education Service (YES) team, education sessions in
schools, alternative provisions, youth and sports settings, with a particular focus
on vaping and gambling, and relationships education.
To work alongside the RWB team to deliver services to children and young
people in line with Step 2’s mission and objectives.
To enable children and young people to gain the information and skills needed to
make informed choices and take action to improve their health and quality of life.
Responsible to:
Line management and guidance will be provided by the service lead.
The post holder will report back to the service lead and will provide reports to the
Trustees as appropriate.
Main Task/Activities:
1. To work mainly within schools, alternative provision (AP) settings, youth
settings, sports settings and other places where young people gather to
facilitate relevant education sessions, in partnership with the team.
2. To enable children and young people to identify factors that affect their
own health and quality of life.
3. To be proactive in assessing the needs of children and young people,
and to look for ways to reflect these needs, and ensure they are
addressed within our delivery.
4. To work with other staff to develop materials that can be used in work
with children and young people.
5. To adapt session delivery to develop materials that can be used in work
with children and young people of different ages, learning styles and
abilities, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity..
6. To build on links with local schools, youth agencies and other places
where young people meet.
7. To be a positive role model to children and young people and able to
respond to issues and concerns which they raise in an appropriate and
sensitive manner.
8. To be aware of, develop positive relationships with, and work alongside,
other agencies providing similar and complementary services for young
people, and other members of the community who are involved with young
people.
9. To facilitate information stalls at events at community centres and schools
to raise awareness, share resources and engage young people, parents
and professionals.
10. To promote and publicise the service, using our social media platforms,
the website/newsletter articles etc.
11. To keep appropriate records, and to monitor and evaluate the work of
the project, writing any reports necessary.
12. To participate in relevant training, supervision and meetings, as
required, to be able to work on own initiative and be able to work flexible
hours.
13. To work in a way consistent with the ethos of Step 2 and the equal
opportunities policy of the project.
14. To promote a culture of safeguarding, and to comply with the relevant
policies of Step 2 and all partners. To respond to safeguarding concerns in
line with the partnership safeguarding plan.
15. To be responsible, alongside the CEO, service lead and staff team for the
safety and well-being of everyone, whilst using Step 2 services.
16. To be responsible for the management and security of the project
premises, resources and equipment when appropriate.
17. Undertake any other duties considered appropriate by the Board of
Trustees within the prime objectives of the post.
