Hours: 8:45am-16:45pm Monday to Friday
Salary:£25.877.80-£34,240
Contract: Fixed Term till 31st March 2027

About the Role
The role will work within the suite of Community Diversion projects, supporting young people referred by the police for missing episodes. The role will provide person-centred structured interventions over a 12-week period, to improve outcomes for young people and prevent/reduce further missing episodes. The role will work with the police and partner agencies to ensure holistic support for young people to meet their identified needs.
What you'll do;
- Manage a caseload of young people referred by the police for missing episodes, providing structured interventions of support aimed at preventing further missing episodes.
- Use person-centred early interventions to address immediate issues for example behaviour management techniques, harm reduction, substance misuses, parenting support, and school attendance, ensuring that our practice reflects that people are truly listened to and are kept at the heart of all decision-making.
- Build a therapeutic and trusting relationship with the service user and use active strategies to facilitate change, including communicating empathy, developing relationships, identifying different types of support, and reducing conflict.
- Complete high quality person-centred assessments, including liaising with family members, significant others and professionals/ agencies as appropriate, and develop person-centred support plans to identify how individual service user needs will be met, and how they will achieve sustained outcomes
- Complete and review robust Risk Assessment and Management plans to identify risk levels and factors as well as strengths and assets that can support individuals to reduce risk.
- Work as part of a team providing cross provision/ service support where reasonable and attending regular team meetings.
What you'll need to succeed within the role;
- Level 3 Diploma or working towards Youth Work Practice, or equivalent work experience with Children and Young People (essential)
- Full transport and access to a vehicle as you will be required to travel across the South Tyneside area.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook Office programmes
- Experience of and ability to manage a caseload of service users (essential)
- Experience of completing service user assessments including comprehensive risk assessments and support plans. (essential)
