Are you an experienced recovery practitioner ready to take the next step into leadership?

Do you want to play a key role in supporting people to overcome drug and alcohol challenges and build positive futures?

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Team Leader to join our service at HMP Onley, working full time (35 hours per week) within an integrated healthcare framework delivering high quality drug and alcohol recovery services.

Please note: HMP Onley is a rural location with limited public transport options, so reliable travel arrangements are essential.

Our service focuses on delivering person-centred psychosocial interventions, using both harm reduction and abstinence-based approaches, working closely with healthcare partners to support recovery outcomes and continuity of care.

About the role

As Team Leader, you will play a key role in supporting both the team and the service by providing leadership, guidance and operational support. You will also act as deputy to the Service Manager when required and help ensure the service continues to deliver safe, effective and high-quality support.

Some flexibility is required within the role, including occasional evening or weekend working, and with reasonable notice you may be asked to support other nearby services to ensure continuity of care.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing supervision, coaching and guidance to recovery practitioners
  • Managing a small caseload and delivering structured 1:1 and group interventions
  • Completing assessments and developing tailored recovery care plans
  • Supporting release planning and through-the-gate continuity of care
  • Supporting performance delivery and meeting service KPIs
  • Working collaboratively with healthcare, probation and other partners
  • Supporting rota planning and day-to-day operational delivery
  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, quality and compliance

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working in drug and alcohol recovery services
  • Experience supporting, mentoring or supervising staff
  • Strong understanding of recovery, harm reduction and treatment approaches
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • A flexible and proactive approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting recovery and positive change

This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills while making a meaningful difference in a role where no two days are the same. You'll be part of a supportive team environment with opportunities for professional development and growth.
