About the Role
Allen Hall Seminary is a Roman Catholic seminary where men live and train for the priesthood. We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Domestic Assistant to help maintain high standards of cleanliness and care throughout the seminary. This is a vital role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- To service guestrooms
- To undertake the following housekeeping tasks:
- Clean and hoover the reception area, student common room, communal spaces in the complex, classrooms and offices, staff sitting rooms and kitchenettes
- Service priest’s flats including their kitchen, ovens, washing-up, bathrooms and making their beds
- To collect, launder, iron and replace the Rectors and other resident priests’ personal laundry
- Undertake house laundry i.e. beddings, towels, uniforms etc.
- Clean laundry area including machines and washing down floors
- Repair priests’ laundry and house linen.
- To prepare refreshments for meetings/conferences
- Set the tables in the resident priests’ breakfast room and refectory and prepare tea/coffee for breakfast, two days a week
- Assisting with the operation of the hostel (July & August): This will include setting up and spring cleaning every guest room and common area. Set up and clear breakfasts, clean all kitchenettes and bathrooms each day. Service guest rooms each day. Laundry each day i.e. sheets and towels. Work weekends and bank holiday during hostel operation.
- Undertaking required training and supporting ad hoc duties as needed

- Previous experience in a similar domestic or housekeeping role
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage workload effectively and maintain attention to detail
- Physically fit and able to meet the demands of the role
- Flexible, adaptable, and proactive in your approach
- Willingness to work respectfully within, and support, the mission and ethos of the Catholic Church
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and respect for diverse groups
Desirable:
- Experience working in a faith-based, charitable, or non-profit organisation
Experience working in a faith-based or charitable setting is welcome but not essential.
