Domestic Abuse Practitioner (DAP) Service Co-Ordinator Kirklees Better Outcomes Partnership Person Specification ATTRIBUTES Essential/ Desirable HOW IDENTIFIED Application (A) Interview (I) Essential Desirable Essential Essential Essential Essential Essential Qualifications / Training Good standard of education Higher Education or equivalent NVQ Level3, A level or degree Work Experience Experience of providing direct front line support to victims of domestic abuse or equivalent experience in a linked sector (safeguarding, mental health, substance misuse, homelessness etc.) Experience of providing holistic and trauma- informed casework Experience of advocating on behalf of clients Experience of project development Experience of working within legislative frameworks to develop, influence and encourage partnership working. Experience of writing case studies and contributing to service evaluation Experience of dealing with day to day project enquiries from a wide range of people and professionals Experience of support staff and/or including volunteers Experience of working within an outcomes framework service model Special Knowledge Have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse including the impact on victims and their children and the legal and practical remedies available to these clients Have an excellent understanding of the context of DA services and best practice when working with victims of domestic abuse Understand relevant legislative requirements involved in working with victims of domestic abuse such as the Domestic abuse Act, and safeguarding requirements. Understanding of the barriers for victims of domestic abuse in accessing support and how to address these. Skills/Abilities Good organisational skills Good communication skills (interpersonal and group work basis) IT and presentation skills Collaborative and team working skills Ability to use databases and other systems to monitor and record, to evidence & evaluate all project related activity. Ability to recognise potential risk and take appropriate action including liaising with appropriate managers Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team. Ability to recognise trends and patterns in data around domestic abuse and appropriate responses Attitudes / Disposition Be kind, caring and empathetic ensuring all victims of domestic abuse are provided with an excellent service regardless of their background. Work with your team and the wider KBOP partnership to improve outcomes for victims of domestic abuse accessing the service.
