We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher and visionary leader as Director of Sport and Physical Wellbeing from September 2026 or January 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the next phase of sport and physical wellbeing at King’s as the school moves to full co-education from 2029. The postholder will lead the strategic vision for co-educational sport across the junior and senior schools, playing a central role in defining our future direction, and ensuring that sport and physical activity are a vibrant and inspiring part of school life for both girls and boys.

The successful candidate will lead a large, talented and committed team of teachers and coaches, fostering the highest standards of learning and achievement for every pupil. They will champion professional growth, ensuring colleagues benefit from a stimulating, supportive and ambitious environment. With a deep commitment to co-educational sporting excellence, they will promote a culture of inclusivity and belonging, enabling all pupils and staff to flourish.

Working closely with senior leaders, the Director of Sport and Physical Wellbeing will shape and deliver an ambitious vision for co-educational sport, physical health and wellbeing, and PE across the senior and junior schools. This forms a core part of the school’s strategic plan to prepare girls and boys for healthy, fulfilling lives beyond school. The role offers a distinctive and exciting opportunity to define sector-leading co-educational sport and exercise, and to cultivate a culture in which competitive sport and physical activity positively influence all pupils.

A King’s education is centred on developing the whole person, with our rich co-curricular programme at its heart. We want all pupils to be active throughout their time at school and to develop a lifelong passion for sport and physical activity. Equally, we are committed to nurturing sporting excellence, supporting talented pupils to achieve at the highest levels.

The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for sport and exercise, fully aligned with the school’s broader aims and values, and energised by the opportunity to lead the next chapter of co educational sport at King’s. They will be eager to build an active, engaged community and to foster the character, confidence and wellbeing that sport can uniquely develop, preparing every pupil to live a happy, well balanced and healthy future.

The successful candidate will be responsible to one of the Deputy Heads; currently the Deputy Head (Operations).
