Nuffield Health is seeking an experienced senior clinical leader to join its Clinical Leadership Team as Director of Quality for the South region, with a national leadership remit for Wards and Outpatient Departments.
This role provides expert leadership, assurance and oversight of quality, safety, effectiveness and patient/customer experience, working in close partnership with Executive Operations Directors, Hospital Directors and clinical leaders to deliver Nuffield Health’s Quality Strategy.
In addition to regional accountability, the successful person will act as the national subject matter expert for Ward and OPD services, setting standards, driving consistency and leading improvement programmes across the hospital network. The role ensures strong regulatory compliance with CQC, HIS and HIW, while championing innovation, learning and an open safety culture.
As the Director of Quality – South & National Lead for Wards & Outpatients you will:

Lead quality assurance and continuous improvement across the South region, partnering closely with Executive Operations Directors and clinical leaders.

Act as national lead for Wards and OPD, setting strategy, standards and KPIs and driving standardisation across all sites.

Drive implementation of the Quality Strategy, Quality Framework (QAF) and Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs).

Lead the Integrated Quality Assurance Review (IQAR) programme within region, providing independent, evidence‑based assurance.

Ensure timely and effective response to quality and patient safety issues, including regional support for PSIRF delivery.

Provide expert oversight and guidance on regulatory compliance, supporting Registered Managers and senior teams to meet and exceed CQC, HIS and HIW requirements.

Contribute clinical expertise to strategic projects, service developments, technology‑enabled care and clinical governance for new developments and acquisitions.

Champion an open, learning culture and coach Directors of Clinical Services and other senior clinical leaders to strengthen governance, capability and patient care.
Director of Quality – South & National Lead for Wards & Outpatients, you’ll bring:

Registered Nurse or AHP (NMC or HCPC) with degree‑level qualification

Senior healthcare leader with experience at Director of Clinical Services level or equivalent

Strong background in clinical governance, quality assurance and regulation
-
Proven experience leading ward and/or outpatient services
-
Credible, influential leader with a track record of improvement and change
