Director of People & Organisational Development

Avalon Group is an award-winning social care charity dedicated to enabling people to live fulfilling lives, however they choose. We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of People and Organisational Development to lead the development and delivery of a forward-thinking People & Culture Strategy aligned to Avalon values.

The Role

This is a pivotal leadership position, combining strategic oversight with operational impact. You will provide strategic leadership across all aspects of workforce development, including recruitment, HR policy, organisational culture, and employee experience, supporting a growing workforce of approximately 360 colleagues currently.

As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee the HR and the Learning & Development function, drive improvement initiatives and deliver strategic workforce planning aligned to growth and sustainability.

About You

You will bring:

  • Proven experience leading People teams, preferably within health or social care
  • A track record of translating strategy into measurable improvement
  • The credibility and confidence to influence at senior level
  • A collaborative, values-driven leadership style

The base location for this role is negotiable; however, flexibility is required to meet business needs, including travel to our local offices. A full, valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are essential.
