We are looking for an experienced Digital Executive to join our established, busy and ambitious Membership, Marketing and Communications team. This role will be instrumental in enhancing our websites and member app for today, as well as being a key member of the team in scoping, developing and delivering exciting and significant changes across our web-enabled platforms for tomorrow. This role will also contribute towards the marketing strategy which strengthens the College's position, increases awareness of the optometry profession, recruits and retains members, and communicates and engages with members, the public and stakeholders. 

Working among a collaborative and vibrant team, this role has the advantage of seeing the full offer and benefits of the College and will work alongside marketing colleagues and departmental leads to ensure that the web and app content is engaging, intuitive and optimised for its target audience.

Reporting to the Digital Content Manager, the role holder's core responsibilities (80%) will be:

  • Website content management:Manage day-to-day content updates for the College website, working with various teams to publish content, resolve technical issues, and maintain site quality
  • Patient website (lookafteryoureyes.org):Coordinate the patient-facing website by liaising with external agencies, clinical advisors, and patient reference groups to ensure content is accurate, accessible, and user-friendly
  • SEO:Conduct regular site health checks, optimise pages for search performance, and explain SEO improvements to content owners in plain language
  • Member app & communities:Support the management of the College's clinical app, working with technical suppliers to resolve issues, test new features, and develop the communities function
  • Podcast production (EyePod):Edit audio files, brief contributors, and coordinate recording sessions to maintain the College's podcast output

Supporting responsibilities will consist of (approximately 20% of role):

  • Performance reporting:Generate accessible Google Analytics reports for senior management on digital channel performance
  • Email marketing:Support email communications using Microsoft Customer Journeys Module for Dynamics
  • Paid media:Assist with in-house PPC, display, and paid social campaigns within set budgets
  • Social media:Support the College's social media activities as needed

We recognise this role covers several areas. We're looking for someone with strong core skills in content management and SEO, combined with willingness to develop in other areas.

  • Typical working hours at the College are 9 am to 5 pm (7 hours, excluding lunch) working five days a week. We operate a flexible working window from 8 am to 6 pm where you can vary your start and end time (working a 7-hour day). This role is flexible and can be worked over a variety of working patterns.
  • We also offer hybrid working (a mixture of home and office working). Typically, College staff will work around 20 - 40% of their time at the workplace (whether this is the office at Craven St, or a face-to-face meeting, exam or event at another business-related site or organisation) per week.
