This role is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Digital Collections team dedicated to increasing virtual access to collections at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.  The postholder will develop new workflows and methods for the digitisation of the microscope slide collection which is the largest of its kind worldwide.  The collection incorporates around 150,000 slides from a diverse range of plant taxa. The slides include leaf surfaces and sections, pollen, wood, roots and chromosomes representing a unique resource for trait analysis and plant authentication.

With a proven background in collections handling, data entry and digital imaging, our ideal candidate will enjoy working with digital collections and have strong attention to detail. The candidate will require knowledge of Microscope Slide preparation (especially concerning plant micromorphology) and have previous experience working in a lab. This post would suit someone with an interest in contributing to the next phase of digitisation, with an enthusiasm for the ongoing development of digitisation workflows and procedures particularly in relation to the Microscope Slide collection.

Interviews are due to take place on 14 April.

This role is based at Kew with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.

The salary for this position is £34,216 - £34,577 per annum (pro rata), depending on skills and experience [Band C]
