About MAG:

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the role:

Reporting to our Communications Manager, you will assist with the planning and delivery of a wide range of communications activity. This includes written and digital content for MAG’s external communications, assisting with MAG’s ongoing website redevelopment and maintenance, and supporting SEO strategy and implementation. You will also project manage the delivery of content from across our worldwide programmes and departments. You will actively create and edit copy and engaging video, graphic, animated, and audio content with the goal of increasing MAG’s brand awareness and demonstrating our values, brand, and strategic direction. You will help us maximise the reach, and impact, of work that ensures people are not living in the daily fear and poverty caused by landmines and unexploded bombs.

Requirements

About you:

You should be an experienced communications professional with demonstrable experience and understanding of how to grow social media audiences and website traffic, ideally within the humanitarian or development sectors. Significant experience in SEO strategy, including Google and social media ads, is essential, as is experience working with content management systems and managing a website. You will be creative and proactive, with strong experience of content creation including proficiency with industry standard editing and graphics tools including Adobe suite. Fluency in English is essential, and you should have impeccable writing abilities with a strong attention to detail.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Solid understanding of growing social media audiences and website traffic.
  • Significant experience working with content management systems and website management.
  • Experience in SEO strategies, Google ads, and social media ads.

•       Salary: £35,604 per annum and this increases with service.

•       Pension: MAG has a salary sacrifice group personal pension plan in place, and matches employee’s contributions up to 5%.

•       Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. Annual Leave starts at five weeks each year and increases with service to six weeks.  We also offer paid sick leave, and the amount of the entitlement increases with service. Once you’ve been with MAG for two years, you’re entitled to 13 weeks. MAG also has policies on compassionate leave, flexible working and family leave, including maternity, paternity, adoption and surrogacy leave.

This role is based in the UK, therefore, a pre-existing right to work in the UK is a requirement and MAG will not be able to sponsor visa applications. Please note that if you have not declared your right to work in the UK on your application, we will not be able to consider you for this role.

This is a permanent position. You may work from home in the Northwest of England, but will also be required to work from our Manchester City Centre office as required. The anticipated level of office attendance is 2-3 days per week, with all travel costs borne by the post-holder. This may be more frequent during the first six months of the role. MAG is willing to consider remote working from home anywhere in the UK for the right candidate.

You will be required to travel overseas to visit MAG programmes.
