World Bicycle Relief has distributed over 1,000,000 fit-for-purpose bicycles and trained 4,000+ community-based mechanics. Purpose of the Position
The Digital Communications Specialist manages World Bicycle Relief and Buffalo Bicycles’ global social media presence, ensuring consistent brand voice, message alignment, and impactful campaigns. This role develops and executes social strategies, manages paid and organic content, builds influencer partnerships, and tracks performance to maximize reach, engagement, and conversions.
Job Responsibilities
Digital Marketing – Social Media & Paid Ad
- Manages global social media accounts, ensuring consistent brand voice and regular posting.
- Collaborates with Content Manager to develop and execute social media strategy.
- Builds and maintains editorial calendar; plans campaigns supporting organizational goals.
- Writes and publishes posts; collaborates with creative team for visuals.
- Manages third-party agency for paid social advertising; integrates paid strategy with organic content.
- Monitors and moderates community engagement; responds to comments, messages, and mentions.
- Tracks, analyzes, and reports on social performance; refines strategy based on insights.
- Stays current with social media trends, tools, and best practices; applies growth tactics
Athlete & Influencer Management
- Builds and executes ambassador/influencer engagement program; identifies partners, develops outreach, coordinates campaigns, nurtures relationships.
Cross- Functional Collaboration
- Works with marketing, communications, creative/design, fundraising, and sales teams to align social media efforts with organizational goals.
Requirements
- 4 years of experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated success developing and executing social media strategies that drive measurable growth, engagement, and conversion.
- Experience running paid social advertising campaigns.
- Proven ability to build and manage ambassador and influencer programs, including outreach, coordination, and campaign execution.
- Strong copywriting and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt tone and message across audiences, platforms, and brands.
- Solid understanding of analytics and reporting tools; ability to translate data insights into actionable recommendations.
- Working knowledge of creative best practices for social content (photo, video, Reels, UGC, stories, etc.); ability to partner with designers/creators to produce compelling content.
- Outstanding organizational, project-management, and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines across global teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments, cultures, and time zones.
- A passion for World Bicycle Relief’s mission and a desire to use social media to inspire, activate, and engage supporters worldwide.
