Founded in 1352 by the Guildsof Corpus Christi and the Blessed Virgin Mary, it bears thedistinction of being the only College in Oxford orCambridge founded by their citizens. The College has a 650-year commitment to teaching andresearch, carried out on the site of its original foundationin the heart of medieval Cambridge. Today Corpus is a relaxed and friendly close-knit Collegethat provides an academic and residential environment forapproximately 60 Fellows and 550 students (300 under-graduates and 250 post-graduates) and currently employsaround 130 staff. The main site is located in central Cambridge with otheraccommodation provided in five main satellites, includingthe extensive complex at Leckhampton in Grange Road,which provides accommodation for both students andResearch and Visiting Fellows. The College’s Parker Library houses a collection ofmanuscripts of world-historical significance. The library isnamed after a former Master, Archbishop Matthew Parker.THE DEVELOPMENT AND ALUMNI RELATIONS OFFICEThe Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) at Corpus Christi College engages with the College’s 7300 alumni through arange of meetings, events, publications and initiatives throughout the year, allowing alumni and friends to keep in touch with theirCollege, to promote their lifelong association and encourage philanthropic support. Corpus has a motto, ‘Floreat Antiqua Domus’, which translated means ‘May the Old House Flourish’. By joining the team, you will helpto achieve this, ensuring the College’s continued success in every aspect of work that you do. Through your work, you will enable theCollege to understand and build relationships with its current and future alumni community.Last year Corpus received donations from over 850 donors and ran over 25 events. With your help, the College expects to grow itswork. Alumni contribute to a wide range of projects, including student support, our Bridging Course, and capital projects.THE OPPORTUNITYReporting to the Deputy DevelopmentDirector, this post is a key positionwithin the Development Office,executing a range of fundraising andengagement opportunities involvingthe Corpus community. Building on a platform of strongfundraising performance and alumniengagement, the role-holder will playan essential role in enabling Corpusto increase its fundraising fromalumni, friends of Corpus and othermembers of the community.The Development Officer will beresponsible for the delivery of allaspects of the regular givingprogramme, including the telephonecampaign/giving day, stewardship ofregular giving prospects and donorsand the administration around ourlegacy and recognition programmes. You will also support the DeputyDevelopment Director in the creationof content for both digital and printcommunications.You will work closely, and buildstrong, professional workingrelationships, with a wide range ofstakeholders across the College (andwider) community: Development team Alumni, donors and Friends ofCorpusCollege departments, particularlyTutorial, the Bursars office andFinance team.Development colleagues at othercolleges and within the UniversityKEY RESPONSIBILITIES FUNDRAISINGWork closely with the DeputyDevelopment Director toimplement the Collegefundraising priorities - portfoliospecific, regular giving anddonor recognition.Plan and administer a range offundraising projects including;direct email appeals, telephonefundraising, giving days anddigital fundraising. Administer the donorrecognition programme andestablish formal stewardship fornew and existing donors,working closely with the Giftsand Finance Officer to ensureaccurate gift recording andreporting. Assist the Deputy DevelopmentDirector in the creation oftailored presentations,proposals, briefing materialsand gift documents to supportdonor interactions andfundraising asks. DONOR ENGAGEMENT &STEWARDSHIPResearching new opportunitiesand initiatives within regulargiving, including developing andimplementing innovativeappeals.Ensure that effective cultivationand solicitation practices arefollowed to grow the communityof College supporters. Assist in the delivery ofcultivation and stewardshipevents, dinners and donorreceptions.Work with the DevelopmentAssistant to ensure thatstewardship systems andreporting are followed to ensurethat donors are thankedappropriately.OPERATIONAL &ADMINISTRATIONAdministration of regular andlegacy giving, under thedirection of the DeputyDevelopment Director.Provide and insight into donorbehaviours through dataanalytics, query reporting andpresentation.Administer the Master’s Circle ofBenefactors recognitionprogramme.Manage enquiries from donors,prospects, alumni and well-wishers in a friendly and helpfulmanner, ensuring that requestsare acted upon speedily andefficiently.Support the philanthropicprojects of special interestgroups, clubs, and societies.Liaise with counterparts at otherColleges and the University toshare best practice and identifyjoint opportunities.Ensure compliance with allrelevant legislation and policiesincluding the Code ofFundraising Practice, GDPR,and the Colleges GiftAcceptance Policy. PERSON SPECIFICATIONEXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONSA working knowledge of fundraisingoperations, telephone campaign,regular gifing and/or giving dayplatforms.Knowledge of fundraising CRMs(preferably Raiser’s Edge NXT) andconfidence in using data to informdecisions using high quality datamanagement, query preparation,spreadsheet manipulation, andpresentation skills.An understanding of GDPR withinthe alumni relations fundraising andits impact on database management,data retention and consent. Excellent IT skills with experienceand understanding of MS Officesuite.An understanding of donorstewardship, legacy marketing, andtax efficient giving. Educated to degree level orequivalent.SKILLS & ATTRIBUTESHigh quality data preparation andanalysis skills. Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills.Excellent interpersonal skills,demonstrating respect for theformalities and understanding ofetiquette within a Cambridge college.Highly organised, with the ability tomanage multiple priorities anddeliver to deadlines under pressure.The ability to manage confidentialinformation and navigate complexinterpersonal dynamics. REPORTSReports to the DeputyDevelopment Director. PROBATIONThe appointment is subjectto an initial probationaryperiod of 6 months. Theprobationary period may beextended at the College’sdiscretion.HOURS OF WORKThe post is a full time,office based role of 37.5hours per week. It requiresa dedicated candidate whowill work such hours as arenecessary to fulfil theresponsibilities of the post.
