£15.00-£20.00 per hour dependent on experience

Sessional (as and when required) mainly evenings and weekends- up to 6 hours

About the role:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Detached and Outreach worker who believes in the value of detached youth work to aid the personal and social development of young people and how it can add to those young people becoming valued members of their communities.

The central focus of the role includes working in a detached/outreach setting and understanding the differences between centre and detached/outreach based youth work. Communication and relationship building skills are key to this role and will rely heavily on working with third parties and the ACN central team to identify key hotspots.

The successful applicant will have key responsibilities around programme development and face to face delivery with young people, whilst ensuring young people are engaged in projects that are safe, developmental, innovative, and meaningful.

Essential experience / knowledge:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience employed in an outreach/detached youth work setting
  • Experience of delivering street-based sessions.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with young people.
  • Experience of working with disadvantaged young people in a detached/ street-based
    environment.
  • Good knowledge of the local area and issues faced by young people and their
    communities.
  • Experience of working with young people at risk
  • A good understanding of community-based programmes and their impact

Essential skills and abilities:

  • Ability to deliver a street-based youth work session to a high standard.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to engage young people, project staff and
    steering group/local partners effectively.
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve.
  • Ability to work in a confident and flexible manner.
  • IT literate.
  • Willingness to work across multiple delivery locations.
  • Able to work unsociable hours on evenings, weekends and during school holidays.
