Design Technology Technician – for September 2026 (Part time – 3 days over 4)
Overview of Role
As part of our exciting transition to Duchy College and our move to becoming co-educational from September 2026, we are seeking a proactive and skilled Design Technology Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will support our Design Technology department and play a key role in bringing creative ideas and projects to life.

With Design Technology returning to the curriculum for the 2026/27 academic year, this is an exciting opportunity to help shape a growing department and support the next generation of designers, makers, and engineers.
The role and day to day responsibilities include:
- Prepare, maintain, and organise tools, machinery, and materials across Resistant Materials, Graphics, Product Design, and/or Engineering.
- Support the Head of DT in delivering exciting, practical lessons that inspire students.
- Ensure workshops and classrooms are safe, efficient, and ready for learning.
- Assist students with practical tasks, prototypes, and project work.
- Manage stock levels, order materials, and keep equipment in excellent condition.
- Contribute to a positive, creative, and forward‑thinking department culture.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has practical experience with workshop tools, machinery, and Design Technology processes.
- Demonstrates strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Has a good understanding of health and safety requirements within a workshop environment.
- Is a proactive problem-solver with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Enjoys working with young people and supporting their learning.
