Deputy Stage Manager
What we're looking for
Do you enjoy bringing people together and helping productions run smoothly behind the scenes?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Deputy Stage Manager (DSM) to join the Production team for 12 Days, Chickenshed's spectacular Christmas show.
This Christmas, five children are chosen for an extraordinary journey to discover the true meaning of love. Travelling through a divided world, they uncover empathy, trust, courage and belonging – learning that love grows when we come together. 12 Days is a joyful, heart-warming festive adventure for all ages, brought to life in a spectacular Chickenshed production with a large, diverse cast of over 800 performers.
We are looking for a DSM who can help ensure every rehearsal and performance is delivered smoothly and to the highest artistic standard.

About the role
As Deputy Stage Manager, you will work closely with the Stage Manager, creative team and performers throughout the rehearsal and performance process.
You will play a key role in ensuring clear communication between the rehearsal room and the wider organisation, helping to create a production of the highest artistic standard. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining the prompt copy ("The Book"), recording blocking and cues, issuing rehearsal notes and supporting the smooth running of rehearsals.
During performances, you will call the show and help ensure each performance is delivered safely, consistently and in line with the creative vision. Working as part of the production management team, you will help foster a positive, organised and inclusive environment for performers, creatives and colleagues.
Due to the nature of the production, evening and weekend work will be required.

- Organised, reliable and able to work collaboratively as part of a team
- A clear and supportive communicator who builds positive working relationships with colleagues, performers and creative teams
- Proactive and able to use their initiative when supporting rehearsals and performances
- Committed to creating an inclusive environment where people of all ages and backgrounds feel welcomed and supported
- Passionate about theatre and live performance
- Able to maintain professionalism, discretion and confidentiality at all times
